Dinu the first time I went to buy a new car audio system I had a budget of $239.95. By the time I left the store I had spent over $1500! It is a disease!

Hey Dinu, nice install there. I actually somehow missed this thread, in fact Anwar pointed it out to me when I visited him recently.

When I went for my setup the Dash panel was 12k!

Thanks...

Getting the dash panel was the most painful task. Spending 9K for a piece of plastic was something I could not digest. Probably it has come down further now. Classic case of sellers market for this item. The dash kit for LHD Civic's are available pretty cheap in the US.

I agree, a top quality dash panel should not cost more than 1.5-2k!

Well, time for some updates. In the last one year, I did some minor additions - really useful ones.

First, I added a reverse camera and the display looks great while reversing. Works very well even in low light situations. This along with the parking sensors really helps in many a situation. There are options for normal view, Mirror image etc.

I also added the JVC Bluetooth adapter for a totally handsfree experience. The mic is positioned just above the rear view mirror. A very good investment indeed.

More recently, I repositioned my tweeters from the stock position inside the top pf the dash to near the quarter panel glass, facing the cabin. One of the best moves ever. The SQ has moved to a totally new level with the highs coming out much cleaner and smoother. A very inexpensive but worthwhile move. Thanks to Ajay for the idea to reposition. It was worth it.

Hey Dinu,
Nice install there. I am also looking at ways to upgrade the ICE on my Civic.
Have not seen your thread entirely, but to begin with how have you managed to place your tweeters on top of the dash?

2 sided tape?

Thanks

Thanks, Hiren. A small hole was drilled on the panel and the tweeter housing was screwed on.

Oh ok! But does it rattle? I am planning to install a basic 4 channel amp and upgrade the front speakers to components and rear to 6x9 if possible.

But before that I am looking at getting the AUX-IN to work. Stingy Honda India has not provided the cable from the HU.

I've looked up on 8thCivic site and saw that in the US Honda provided at cable from the HU, you just had to connect that cable. Tried my local accessory shops but they did not have any clue, as usual.

Any tips would be much appreciated.

Thanks

No, it does not rattle.

Reg Aux In, if you read the entire history of my upgrade, in the initial phase, before I changed the HU, I had tapped on the circuit board of the stock HU and took out leads for Aux In. This was running fine till I decided to change the HU to a touchscreen. The initial pictures shows the details. Here's the picture again

A competent guy should be able to do this for you.

Thanks, the boxes are custom moulded from FRP. Someone competent in FRP moulding can do wonders with this material. Cost me around 5K for the two sides.
