Blaupunkt! Maybe you can get one at a cheaper rate in Germany if your friend looks around and spots a deal. Media Markt perhaps? First check the line-up on the Blaupunkt web-site and settle for a set of models, then look around. INR 10K ~= Euro 180.

Media Markt has a Blaupunkt Monte Carlo MP26 for less than Euro 100 (~INR 5500), so if you compare local price of the same model in India, it should give you an idea whether it is worthwhile.

JBL 6x9's rear - 3k

Just my stupid suggestion, you'll definatly get better sound for 20k.

Thnx for the reply amitwiz...

I dont want to go for parcel tray so 6x9 wouldnt be the option.
Planning for Door fitments options only and HU and speakers with Bill and Warranty. I guess the rates mentioned by you are from Grey?
I Need to know what Size speakers would fit the door ? 5.25 or 6.5 inches ?
Car accessory shop said that you cannot fit anything more then 190watt in the door for Swift as more wattage means bigger magnet and it will create problem for the door window.
What are spacers ?

Is Illusion better then JBL ?
And how would i fit the tweeter that come along with compos as i do not want to drill in the car body.

Thanks.

Yes, the prices I mentioned are grey. I dont think you can manage a decent setup for 20k with all b&w.

I've auditioned both Illusion and JBL and I find Illusion to be a lot better with SQ. But thats just my opinion, try to hear them out yourself.

6x9's compensate for the bass as you dont have a sub, without them you'll feel left out. I have no idea of the stock loaction size, the others should know.

The tweeter's can be fitted on the dash near the A-pillar facing you.

Amit,

Well in that case i would extend my budget to 25k then.

Bass tube and amp can be added later as and when my budget allows.

I require the model number for the Illusion series that you talked about so that i can check it our at any shop.

I was talking about Illusion Electra 6.1 comps for my Optra, and I doubt if they would fit in your case.

Suggestion about different brands!

My friend from Singapore came up with the list of brands available out there. Most of the brand names listed are new to me. Please guide me if they are worth enough to consider (indicated are the retail prices in Singapore Dollars and I believe that he will be able to bargain to some extent before purchasing):

6.5" components (Front speakers):
1. CDT Kama K-Series KA61 - S$308
2. CDT CL-61 - S$308
3. CreativFidelity - S$250 to S$400 range of different models
4. dB Drive Platinum Series - S$288
5. dB Drive Speed Series - S$254
6. dB Drive dB Series - S$229
7. Morel Tempo 6 - S$380 (From my teambhp forum search, I believe the low/mid end of Morel speakers including Tempo series are not worth enough)
8. Phoenix Gold Octane ZR - S$298
9. Phoenix Gold RSD 65CS - S$368
10. Phoenix Gold RYVAL V6.5C - S$288
11. Powerbass S-6C - S$225
12. Powerbass L-6C - S$359
13. Powerbass 2XL-6C - S$450
14. Rainbow (SLX/CSX series) - S$348 to S$518 range of different models
15. Eclipse SP6500 - S$369
16. As far as Hertz is concerned, the price quote is S$475 for HSK165 and S$338 for ESK165.

In addition to these, I found the following speakers in Ebay (US seller with 21948 feedback score - 99.1% positive) and the total price (including shipping) are indicated in USD. I am not sure about the customs part though! (Has anybody imported the speakers into India through EBay, as the prices seems to be very good)
1. Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1 - US$290
2. Infinity Kappa 60.7CS - US$180
3. Polk Momo MMC6500 - US$210
4. Polk DB6510 - US$190

Headunit:
1. VDOdayton DV-1805 (DVD/CD/MP3 player) - S$400
2. Eclipse CD-1000 - S$216
3. Eclipse CD-2000 - S$317
4. Eclipse CD-3000 - S$439
5. Alpine CDA-9883 - S$490 (I found Alpine to be amongst the favorites in team-bhp, but want to see how well they compare with VDODayton & Eclipse, as the price of the Alpine is comparatively high)

Rear Speakers:
And I am planning to go for the 6x9 speakers of the same brand/series as that of the front components. So, I am not listing those options here for the time being.

Amplifier:
Most probably Kenwood 8401

Please enlighten me Gurus!

Regards,
SKB.

Gurus,

Singapore prices that was given in my previous post are the online prices taken from a store's website. So, the street prices should be less than the online prices mentioned in the previous post. (Infact one team-bhp member got his infinity reference 6020cs for S$240 recently from an audio store at Singapore, whereas infinity reference 6010cs has been priced at S$390 in the following online store - So I believe that there is a good room for bargain from that of the online prices)

Singapore store's website is:
carsounds (Powered by CubeCart)

Ebay store link is:
eBay Store - CAR STEREO: MP3 PLAYER, SPEAKER, AMPLIFIER

Regards,
SKB.

Gurus

An ICE shop person said there is a problem with components fitting in swifts door. The magnet hinders the Windows of the door.

Is it true ?

Most installations on TBHP have used MDF spacers to get over that problem. For a stock look, one has to select carefully - most mid-bass drivers are <= 2-3/4" mounting depth from the rear of the mounting ring; I think Illusions are much less.

Maybe LBM has exact measurement of the clearance to the glass from the mounting on the inner sheet-metal of the door.

I think it is 2 inch from the mirror glass rolled down to the metal sheet.

That should be right.

Nearly all good quality aftermarket 6.5" drivers can be installed in the Swift stock location with a 0.75" ring; typical mounting depths varying from about 60mm to 70mm.

He was refering to JBL components. But he said that Blaupunkt components wouldnt cause this problem. I dont know but i felt he was not confident about the same. Another ICE shop mentioned specifically about front or rear door so he said they avoid components in swift.

Tush,

I have fitted Boston Acoustics 6.5" components in the front doors in my petrol swift. My bro-in-law's diesel swift has 6.5" JBL components in the front door - they were fitted using spacer rings and no issues at all.

Gurus,

I have the following information researched for Audio in my Swift.

Blaupunkt HU - St Louis MP56
F.Speakers -Components - Blau. THc 662
R.Speakes- Coaxial - Blau. GTx 663
Total Cost Including installation - 24140/- with b&w.

The guy says no spacers would be required however he will confirm that with the installer.

Friends is this quote appropriate. Any other better combination suggestion would also be appreciated.
