My Palio S10 JBL'ed...

Friends...

Got my S10 JBL'ed today.. Had been thinking of upgrading the ICE setup and finally bit the bullet...

Have kept the Pioneer Rear Coaxials for now. have changed the front coax/tweets that came as standard

Here is what the S10 has now.

HU: Sony CDX-CA890X [This was my old HU from my Santro.]
Amp: JBL GTO 504 -- 7,800
Front Components: JBL GT5 500c -- 4,000
Sub: JBL CS 1204 -- 2,800
Cables -- 850
Sub Box: Custom Made -- 1,200

The 504 is powering the front components & the sub -- the HU had more than 1 pre out [whatever that means. ]

I paid 16K in total. Got it done from autoshop in Koramangla.. have got all my ice setup done there previously also..

Am liking the sound difference till now.. At a later stage will change the HU also to something more powerful...

Hey congratulations Sultan!! The 4 channel powers the front components and the subwoofer - perfect!
There will be a marked improvement when you upgrade the HU

Enjoy your music.

Am NOT at all happy with the ICE setup. I think it is the HU + the wiring and setup that is messed up.

However the good news is that another HU is on the way. Should be with me in a day or two. Want to take a guess on the HU?

Hint: Exactly 1 T-BHP member has it on his car till now . Don't know if that is good or bad

l_b_m, you really need to see the wiring to understand what a mess it is. especially the wiring of the rear speakers. in fact the right rear speker wires have disconnected/broken off and the soldering between the speakers and the the place where wires need to be crimped/put have broken off.

Also, the Sony HU is just tooooooooooo good. While playing a CD, even if you have a 'feather' on the road and the tyres go over it, it skips/jerks .

Anyway, the good news is that a 'reasonably good' HU is on the way (in fact is in the plane right now), so things should be good in the next week or so.

I am not an ICE fanatic, but appreciate good music (Old Ghazals, RD Burman/70's Music and an 'occasional' Led Zap, Deff Lepp etc. )

This time i will get the install done from T-BHP ICE Tuners in Bangy.

No. This either just goes to cold storage or gets listed in the 'Give Away' thread.

I already have the most basic and most cost effective ICE setup in my Gypsy. Cost me just Rs 450/- Will post that details in some other thread sometime :-)

No Guys. honestly, as I said before I am an ICE novice and don't even know what these models are.

The HU I am getting is something that I saw online, liked the features and being a impulsive buyer that i am, bought it. Obviously, this time I did read the inputs from the 2 folks here who have got it and their thread does mention that it is a reasonably good HU.

Another hint -- The T-BHP member who got that HU, 'Mangum-iously' mentioned that he is NO ICE expert and was new to the world of ICE :-).

This time around I plan to get the install done from EVO. Have PM'ed him about the same.
