Esteem Mid Life *ICE* Makeover

i have an esteem mpfi that has gone for a mid life refurbishment and more details about it are in the thread
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/modifi...-makeover.html

1. should i upgrade to a jbl 10" bass tube if i already have a pioneer 304 sub mounted in a box.. the reason for upgrade will be maybe the fact that i cant find a good enclosure anywhere in the market to put the woofer in. BUDGET: 4K FOR THE SUB OR 1.5K FOR THE BOX

2. wanna get new 6*9s cos the present pioneer 6995's will go in the zen which need a good pair: should i get components or just get jbl 938's or equivalent? BUDGET: 4K FOR THE SPEAKERS OR COMPONENTS.. reason: need more punch but may be sorted out by better sub.. HURRY cos my dealer has showed me the GTO947 JBL's which im tempted to buy.. getting them for Rs. 4800

i DONT wanna upgrade my amp nor make extensive changes.. so pls dont suggest damping and otherwise..

thanx!
present config:

pioneer 7950ub hu+ sony 400w made in jap amp .. forgot the model no..

pioneer small door speakers upfront with pioneer tweeters

pioneer 6*9 6995 speakers

pioneer 304 sub in a crappy box

some good cabling but dunno the brand

You can easily get a good enclosure for a 12" sub in Rs. 1500/-

tubes suck. get a good box
and if you have a good sub you dont need 6x9's at the rear. in fact , speakers at the rear become entirely optional if you wont be carrying passengers a lot

on the other hand , do try to get some good comps for the front

i totally agree. 6 x 9s are only for budget purchases, jack of all trades, bass AND trebble.

id suggest components in the front and components or coaxials at the rear, plus the sub obviously

At or under that price you should be able to get the JBL 1204B also. There's a new one too, which advertises 1100W peak power. I would prefer one of these to the Blau.

How is changing the 6x9 helping your cause? Wouldnt it be better to get comps instead?

esteem.. so only 4 inch components would fit in the recess of the dashboard.
i dont wanna make any modifications to the door pads thats why..
any suggestions?

reason for upgrading is that the pioneers have gone to my zen just today so have to get something to replace these!

Frank, I would strongly suggest you get 6.5 inch components for the front.
There would be a very significant difference in your smile level.
