8404 is almost the same thing but its a current production amp so its priced at what it deserves to be at.8404 has a better looks is compact as well, and looks very clean when installed properly,The wire's can be easily be hidden away.It seems sensible to shell out a little more now or else you can wait for a few years for it to come to that price.
Thanks man. You have answered the 8401 Vs 8404 question very well.

Congrats ona perfect setup.Having heard this setup a number of times,i can image how blissful it would be sounding.
To answer all those questions about the 8401 vs 8404.The 8401 isnt available anymore.Even if given a choice between the 8401 and the 8404,get the 8404.Its better, newer and you get warranty.Sound quality has been improved as well.

Congrats Monty. So finally the confusion is over and overspending is done

Do post pics of the install and a review about over all quality.

Regarding 8401 vs 8404. I have not heard 8404 but i would rather pick up 8401 as it's cheaper by Rs 4990

@noidaboy where is GYRO located in Delhi ?

Congrats on the install MK, You dont know but i had a Detailed Audition of your setup

I was at driven when was car was completed after the install, Had come with a Friend, If you remember seeing a white Civic or a Grey CR-V.

Your setup plays GREAT. The 8404 is truly a worthy successor to the 8401. Your front stage is playing really really nice. The Sub kicks in well. I loved Sealed enclosures and bass was nice and tight. Your setup is truly one of the best Budget installs i have heard in some time. You made a very well choice on choosing the Kenwood HU and AMP, They compliment each other and the equipment really really well.

Kudos and enjoy the music

Also, how is it compared to the JBL 1004 / Infinity 475a in ur opinion ?
The Alpine amp was the Alpine V12 Series MRV-F540 (80w x 4). The iPaul sounded better than the Kenwood, but I admit not by a huge margin. The iPaul did have extra "air" and "grunt" to it, and the phase control on the remote knob feature is always useful. But... as usual the law of diminishing returns applied here. For most people with a budget the gains that the iPaul provides are not justifiable by the extra 17K one would have to spend.

I think the 1004 / 475a are more similar than may appear and the 1004 may be a tad bit overrated specs wise. Nevertheless they remain some of the most readily available and well serviced brands available.

Nope. Cuz Kenwood (much like the rest of the industry) guys don't think 2 channel amps sell here.

Thanks JK. The HU was the only fixed component in the setup. For components I had rainbow and Illusion Electra in mind. For sub GZ 12". For amp Blaupaunt MK II, 8401 (unavailable).

Congrats on your setup. I am also going approx the same situation, so eager to know -
1) You didn't liked the Rainbow in comparision to Bull or its the VFM factor that made you choose Bull?
2) How was your experience of Bull v/s Illusions?

LOL Agree, the pics need to be posted first, before all the cheesy talks. But he is compensating for the pics by adding a detailed review as well. Hope we see some goodies soon.
