Guys, sorry for going AWOL for a few days.
Was busy bringing the baby home and putting in new shoes and alloys.

Anyways, I received my Illusion Audio 4.1 components late Saturday evening, so couldn't get the install done that day.

Now am facing a small problem of sorts. The mid-woofer speakers have four mounting brackets due to which they can't be fitted as it is in Alto's dash. From the install pics I've seen at t-bhp forums, I understand that I'll have to cut two brackets for the mid-woofers to sit comfortably in the dash pocket. Now my question is, are these brackets easy to cut? I mean, will a normal installer be able to do a decent job without damaging the speaker wall?

I've seen the Blau 4" co-axials and they have a slightly easy-to-cut mechanism at the bracket joints but the Illusion Comps seem to be made of pretty solid material and there is no "easy" spot so to speak, to cut the brackets.

So, any recommended technique to get the cutting done?
Am not in a hurry. The research on tweeter placement follows next after I get the mid-wooofers ready for install

Thanks!

no need to do any cutting.. just take it to good installer he will solve the problem for you.

Pm me your number and i will get back to you , don't worry about the install so much its pretty simple..

Just get the amp if possible JBL 1004 or atleast Blaupunkt GTA 480 or Blaupunkt MKII special..

Some pics of illusions please !

Go for Blaupunkt GTA mk2 amp with 6539 or atleast 5539 head.. you will be more than satisfied..

And try Pioneer Sub in sealed box which produce more low end bass than JBL

Thanks guys.

@panky12345
6 inchers open a lot of options for the components. But no cutting of doors, so am limited to stock 4 inch solutions.

@Technocrat
Your thread on Illusion 4.1 in an Alto helped a lot.

@chiragh
Veer, thanks a lot for recommending the shop. Very knowledgeable fellow.
Am quite confident the install will go fine.

Anyways, here are a few setups that have me confused now

Setup A
HU - Pioneer 5150B
Amp - JBL S644
Sub - JBL CS1205

Setup B
HU - Pioneer 5150B
Amp - Kenwood 8401
Sub - JBL CS1205

Setup C
HU - Kenwood 6539
Amp - Kenwood 8401
Sub - JBL CS1205

From what I've read about Blaupunkt Special MKII amp, looks like its not possible to set HPF beyond 80 Hz. For the Illusion 4 inch components, I need to set the HPF to around 110-125 hz.

My taste in music boils down to Lounge / Chill-Out genres.
I prefer SQ, and usually listen to music at moderate volume,
Bass I prefer low, soft and consistent and definitely not dominating the mids and vocals.

So is the Kenwood 8401 a better buy in my case?

For the head-unit, am getting 5150B for 7.8k and Kenwood 6539 for 8.8k. Is it worth the extra 1k?

Budget for AMP + SUB is 10k max. Any other sub that I should consider in this range?

Phew, so many options...

you need to cut the 2 diagonal ears for fitting them in alto. its a easy job. you could have asked B&T to cut them and send it to you

nice choice of ICE. but you will want more as time goes on. have a look at my ice in the alto too.
