i am hooked on to this thread, pl post the progress as it happens
next time i am in navi mumbai, i would like to drop in and experience the performance first hand.
Thank You StarVegabond
I did not touch any of the honda wiring so no warranty issues.
Please be my guest whenever you happen to be here.

The guy who hepled me with the install sourced it. The steering wheel control integrates with the carpc and its quite nice.I can program the steering buttons to any keys from the virtual keyboard which comes with the hardware, so it practically gives more control.

Cap pc apps are just not available for OS other than windows yet like DerAlte mentioned below.

No, it is not about the OS. It is only about practical out-of-the-box applications being available that can be installed and run. In this, Windows-based Centrafuse has the first-mover's advantage - no programming or any other geek skill needed.
Linux, Mac OS, WiMo, Nucleus, etc. all of them are suitable - just that they don't have a Centrafuse-like application.
Quite right, and i am having enough trouble with windows itself to choose any other OS ;-)

Guna, The center console is the same one which come with the version which does not have integrated audio, fortunately for me the screen fits into it nicely.
I did not do any of the sticking business so it can be easily removed whenever I want. But I had to open my lilliput and take the LCD out for the fitment.

Thank you. The ANHC has a nice place under the rear seat. I have installed the CPU and the AMP underneath. I have a slim external dvd rom, so its not fixed. The HDD is inside the CPU.

How is phone functioning with CF ? Are you using onboard soundcard or any external ? with which mic ? any issues related to echo ?
Post more details please. where is the case sitting ?
TPMS is possible. You might face problem with valve. I think on mp3car. someone has mentioned that you need alloys to install TPMS custom valve. make sure you check it before you buy TPMS system.
I would love to see the screenshot of OBD from CF. havent seen this OBD menu in my setup. coz Suzuki is using some weird OBD-2 protocol. :(

On the ICE section. We have very good Gurus here.
Thanks Gigy and Nisarg, your posts on the forum were quite helpful

@ gigy, I will be posing rest of the pics soon. I am using a pioneer 4 channel amp. I am using the latest CF version, The OBD is working ok, I plan to use other software which can display more information and fancy stuff with gauges ect.

@ Nisarg, Win7 is ok, standby/resume times are more like xp if not better. The main reason of me shifting to win7,having heard so many good things of its ability of not having issues with USB/Bluetooth devices while resuming from hibernation.I am not sure of it yet. I might even go back to xp if things dont improve with win 7.

The phone is functioning quite well, but the bluetooth does throw the occassional errors, like hardware not found ect.
Bluesoliel not being the most reliable Bluetooth stack in the world does not make life easy either. I am still in the experimental stages to conclude that win7 is the OS which i will continue to use!
I am using the onboard audio, the mic part is interesting , I was searching for a good mic but ended up using the mic which came with my subwoofer which I had got for my home use.(The one used to calibrate speakers levels ect). and guess what it works quite well.
I do have issues like echo and disturbance once in a while but not all the time.
If you want we can have a call just to see the quality of the mic.;-)
The case and the Amp are under the rear seat. I will post detail pics of it soon.
I wanted to go with zotac, searched a lot, tried to get it when i had gone abroad, but could not find it anywhere. The only one I could get that too in navi mumbai was the one with inbuilt PSU and i am using it as my home HTPC now. Its a nice mobo.

Attaching OBD screenshot , sorry for the quality.

TPMS ect will be later till i sort the issues i have in hand at the moment.
Till then happy carpcing !!

Thanks Technocrat,
Yes, the software which I use (Centafuse) has an OBD plugin, but the hardware has to be brought seperately ( OBD scanner). Ihave the standard ELM 327 OBD scanner.
I connect the OBD scanner to the Honda OBD interface and the other end which is an USB interface to my computer.

Thanks netarchie, i will PM you when i plan to be in vashi

i have couple of questions

1. how are you taking care of the heating issues of CPU ?
2. does this LCD screen has backlighting ?, how is the visibility during the afternoons, How good is the visibility angle of the screen ?
3. Have you used the Automotive grade DVD loader/drive ? Have you tested the performace during a bumpy ride ?
4. Are you using IR or RF remote control ? How does it work for DVD when the DVD is positioned under the seat ?
5. Is there a loading on the car battery, i can imagine that the PC will load atleast 150W on the battery, does this result in any performance degradation of the car or A/C ?
6. Are you using any specific GPS / GSM antenna for enhancing the performance ?, if yes how have you positioned in the car ?

sorry for the questions, in fact i have more may be i will post second installment later.

No problem, you may ask as many question you want

Please find my answers in bold.

1. how are you taking care of the heating issues of CPU ?
It does not heat much, or rather i have not had heat issues as of yet. in fact these atom based processors are low power consuming processor thereby producing less heat.

2. does this LCD screen has backlighting ?, how is the visibility during the afternoons, How good is the visibility angle of the screen ?
To put it in simple words, the LCD just manages to do the job. Visiblity is affected in sunlight but nothing which will make the operations difficult.

3. Have you used the Automotive grade DVD loader/drive ? Have you tested the performace during a bumpy ride ?
I have a simple slim external dvd drive, i dont use the dvd much, as i have all my collection ripped in my hdd.

4. Are you using IR or RF remote control ? How does it work for DVD when the DVD is positioned under the seat ?
I have a logitech Dinovo mini and as well as the steering mounted control which can also control the application on the carpc.
Everything can be controlled by the frontend application.

5. Is there a loading on the car battery, i can imagine that the PC will load atleast 150W on the battery, does this result in any performance degradation of the car or A/C ?
Nothing while the car is in motion, but you cant operate the pc for long time when the car is not running as it may drain your battery.

6. Are you using any specific GPS / GSM antenna for enhancing the performance ?, if yes how have you positioned in the car ?
My present bluetooth gps gets fix quite quickly but i am planing to buy an external anntenna.

Wow Netarchie, thats a cool install and it looks as if it is a factory fit. You have got me tempted to upgrade the music system in car to PC. BTW i am also located in Navi Mumbai. Can I drop in and have a look at your install sometime this weekend?

Thank you! I am using a bluetooth gps receiver from globasat, the gps has no fixed place right now, but it gets good signal even if I place it in the cup holder under the center console.

Excellent Install!!! Almost Perfect!!!

For more details on USB TPMS visit the Mp3Car thread on the same.
I've originally built one with the microcontroller from Robby sometime in 2007 but later preferred to get the complete single board kit itself from Lok.They work great but there were some initial gremlins which are now sorted out. In fact I was one of the beta testers for the TPMS kit. Please feel free to ask if you need any additional information.
