ah well, if you have Audison cabling and it's been installed properly then why you doing all this. Chill out, sit back and enjoy. Save that money for a/your woman.

Thats what gunbir bhai.....since iam gettin a mono amp.(US connection) ... .had thoughts about changing the HU as what i thought was my Hu with a singe Pre-out would be a handicap for the Mono amp upgrade....but if u advice to stick with my current HU .......i better be doing it ..lol:

@sam -Vibrations caused by the ICE are pretty decent way to hit the right places(pardon the obvious pun).....without much effort...........Dirty me

I think maine poore ICE section ke bachchon ko spoil kar diya hai.

I've spent thhe whole morning, upgrading the system in my car. For cable buffs - let me know your comments

1) HU upgraded to Alpine 9831 (it was sponsored)
2) Rear Channel line level cables - Van Den Hul, The BAY MC5 Hybrid, wonder solder and Neutrik Pins
3) Front Channel RCA - Van Den Hul Flexion B (Silver), Amphenol Pins, Wonder Solder
4) Sub Channel - Used my old Monster XLN, using Navin's advice - I know a lot of you will turn up your nose after seeing the previous 2 cables, but I insist these are good cables.

The amps are still the same, JBL GTO2000 bridged into the sub and the GTO4000 running the Kappa EMITs and a set of Kappa components.

After I write this post, I'm gonna go down to the car and AXB choose between the old CS1200T tube inside and the new CS1204B sealed box. Will let you know results soon.

Also fitting a HK Drive and play screen and control for the iPod.

CAn I have taht tube for free if you are dumpin it:D
I got my Connection Audison RCA cables today. Will fix it next week after I return home after a small Chennai visit.

Sam I need to talk to your sponsors! :-)

Silver is super for the HF detail but leave the midbass a triffle thin. it a catch 22. i would try using the hybrids and silver and see which sounds best.

I sure hope yo mean ABX testing. You have an ABX speaker tester?

I think he meant a A-B test...not ABX speaker test lol:

Hey guys.have been thinking about sorting out the sound system in my Zen for some time now and I think now's as good a time as any!!!!....what with exams around the corner.
ANyway eres my existing setup..sorry i dont remember any of the model numbers but i'l do my best
HU: Sony, it looks like the cdx5510, but this ones silver with a blue backlight and plays VCD, bought it because at the time this was the modt reasonable player with auxilliary in(for my iPod) bought this about 7 months ago, dont really want to change it.
Front speakers: Sony Xplod 5"? I'm very unhappy with the SQ..quite jarring.
Rear : Pioneer 6X9. 240 watts..tese are around 3 years old and really need to go.

I want to hold on to the current head unit, but change the speakers completely..i'm thinking of a set of components in the front..coz im always driving.and something decent in the rear....dont want the sound stage towards the back as it has to be now for decent sound.
Now this setup sounds noisy.., unless i put all the sound at the back, and even then at high volumes my speakers cant handle it
Please suggest the best combination...I'm not to keen on getting a sub now, but might a little later....I'm really looking for clarity at all volumes...not just A LOUD setup.
I can spend 10k and maybe stretch to 12k-13k (maybe a little more if an amplifier will make a big diffeencein SQ)..PLease bring on the advice audio guru's!!!
Thnks in advance!
Suhail

1. ref the jarring, make sure it is only the speakers. it could be the install as well.
2. why do the do 6x9 have to go? Besides the fact that they are 3 years old (one of my HUs is 19 years old!)? If everything old had to go what about me! :-( ha ha just kidding.

option 1 (retianing 6x9s)
1. Get good components from Alpine, JBL, Blaupunkt ODx for about 6K (this might require using a spacer if you want to fit 6" components into a 5" hole).
2. Get Pio 6100 for all 4 channels. later if you get a sub you can bridge the channels that power the rear and use them for a sub. Budget 7K.
Add RCA wires and install for about 3.5K
Total = 16.5K

option 2. trashing the 6x9
5-6" coax at about 4K for the front
6x9 at about 5K for the rear
Sony 504 amp at 5K
RCA wire and install 3K
Total 17K.

Front components - JBL GTO 506Ce - Rs 5.5k

Rear Speakers - JBL GTO 936e - Rs 4.7k

Total - 10.2k

Upgrade to a 4ch amp at a later date when you have enough dough to spend on it. Best budget amp IMHO is Pioneer 6100F for 7k.

Best of luck:)

Navin, Prince, Thanks for the quick replies. I think i'll go for the components in the front and 6X9's in the rear
Navin:
1. ref the jarring, make sure it is only the speakers. it could be the install as well.: I dont know why. but i think the speakers actually lost their punch over time....could they have been fake? i'd paid 1200 for the pair.
2. why do the do 6x9 have to go? Besides the fact that they are 3 years old (one of my HUs is 19 years old!)? If everything old had to go what about me! :-( ha ha just kidding: One has ripped..also they've been switched from one car to another to another so in the process the tweeter mounting on one is loose and vibrates, no one seems to be able to fix it.

Prince85, these prices you mentioned, are they with bill/warrranty or on the grey market?
Thanks

1. As Navin said; go for compos
2. Teh 6x9 jaars? Its fitted to the tray or to a MDF panel?
3. Do get a 4 channel amp as it would help you with good SQ. A Pio 6100 would be a good buy but you can haev sony if on tight budget. You can later on bridge two channels for a sub .
4. Maybe you should get damping for frnt doors.
5. Yes it b&w price; except for the amp

jkdas,
the front speakers jar...not enough punch, in my opinion..
The rear speakers are fitted in boxes in the boot, whats a better option?
what does damping for the front doors entail? would anyone be able to do it? how much will it cost?
