I thank my friend in Bangalore living in Mantri Residency who has provided me this guidence to join this group of elite audio fun loving people.
I have a Tata Indica Lxi. I am planning to fit my audio system for dat...
I am planning to go for a Blaupunct Bahamas / Bermuda / Monterrey for my head unit.
I am planning to fix JBL Components 5.25" in the front, and JBL 6" x 9" coaxials for the rear. I am planning to cut some portion in my plastic plate already provided to me in the rear of my car rather than buying an MDF.
I am planning to go for a Sub + amp later on when I have some more money...
Now, I need your valuable comments on the above so that you could give me a good picture on the Do's and the Don'ts...
I trust you will help me out.
Luv,
Anand. |
Hi Anand,
Welcome to this little section of Team-BHP.
The Indica actually has factory space for 4 speakers in the front. (5.25"/6" with spacer rings) in the front door and 4" in the dashboard upper area. You are right, there isnt any factory provided location for the rear speakers. The "Plastic" parcel tray is a bit curvy and you may not get a proper fit with the speakers. Plus the plastic may rattle and vibrate. IS there any reason why you arent getting an MDF tray in the rear?
That said, you are on the right track. Personally i would choose an alpine HU if available at that price range, still there's nothing wrng with the Blau HUs.
Read up a bit in and around the forum, ad on this 3000+ post thread and you will find that most of your dobts are answered. For anything else... just give us a shout.
Enjoy your music.

On another irrelevant note, JK can never spell THE. It's "teh" or "thr" but never ever THE. I wonder why. Hmmm.. Deep thoughful look. Kya hua hai mere mascot ko?

Hi Sam, there is no real reason behind not going in for an MDF... just that why an MDF, coz I cud make use of my thick (i donno what material is it... just looks like plastic) plank for putting my rear coaxials... Probably once I go for an Amp and a Sub then there is a chance that it might vibrate and at that time it makes sense to put an MDF that is more heavier than this plank... Would u agree ?

Sam, agree: , I understand Alpine sounds sweeter than any other head units available... I will check out in the market any Alpine units with atleast 3 preouts available in the range of Rs.7600 to Rs.10000, if so, I would go for it instead of Blaupunkt... (I wonder whats the meaning of that Blau... in German).
One more question..., My friend here says Blaupunkt speakers sounds better than JBL when he hears to it... but personally I saw that JBL has Patent pending technology on its speakers... Sam, could you please highlight on the technology behind it and why JBL is supposed to be better than its competitors...?
Zephyr,
The cheapest Alpine with 3 pre outs is the 9847 about 14K. Blau makes a HU with 3 pre outs that retails for about 9K i dont remember the model but it has a blue face. BTW Blau = blue and Punkt = dont. see that blue dot in the center of the volume control knob in the "Blau-punkt". Blaupunkt, a 100% subsidiary of Robert Bosch GmbH., is named after the blue dot it painted onto its headphones in the 40s and 50s.
If you are intending to go in for a sub later you can live with 6" coax in teh rear. the sub will perform bass duties.
Blau HU: 9-10K
JBL 606: 6K?
JBL 636: 4K?
Sub and Amp: 10-12K
----------------
Total 30-35K
Thanks Guys :)

Yep I had noted this, but wanted the company specific front pod size... not what can be accomodated with custom mods.

Blau means the colour blue. Blaupunkt (Is actually two words, but god bless the German language, fevicol ka jod hai) means Blue Point. The blue dot you see in their logo.
Amigo, any company that makes only speakers, has to make better speakers than the ones that also make speakers. JBL has a mad, fun and performance oriented attitude and offers great performance for the money and has great presence, products and backup in India. (I know, i work for JBL) but NO BRAND is better than another. it is all a matter of personal choice. I always say, buy a good speaker from a specialist brand. See what you like. It's your money.
