@off topic:-How can a person with little or no knowledge judge that a particular amp is fake?? Are there few important or pointer things that one can look into, anyone can sell a fake alpine or anything at normal price,i mean so far the rock bottom prices are the main indicator for a layman that an amp might be fake!!!
Plz throw in name and prices of AMP which can pump 400W rms @ 4ohms in bridged mode or mono along with their prices.
Cheers!
When I joined TBHP and went through the ICE forum, I immediately realized that the install I had in my Scorpio was terrible:Shockked:. First I junked the complete ICE you see in the pictures. Then got in touch with Navinji and Low Bass Maker. Their suggestion were very valuable. Infact LBM has offered his help in installation as well:Cheering:.
This thread already rocks, but I thought posting the pics of my "previous" ICE would just shift it into overdrive for a couple of hours:uncontrol

I would look at it this way:
1. Always do your homework. Try to see what the amplifier looks like and browse through some pages on the internet. Also, the finish of the product will tell you where it has come from.
2. Buy from reliable sources - better to avoid small-time wannabe installers.
3. Insist on bill and warranty from the original company stamped by the dealer. Make sure it is officially imported and sold.
4. Try to take someone along who knows about ICE equipment.
Cheers! :)

vibzez, to this is one of the most weird and horrible install jobs I've seen:
You'll have to remove the enclosure, the speakers and the subs.
Please get rid of those fake Pio TS-20 tweeters, the fake amplifier and the Blues amplifier. |
Thankyou Bro, The only problem I am facing is that the Scorpio does not seem to be a good car for fitments of speakers on the doors. But then LBM has so kindly agreed to help me out, so I am not concerned about it anymore.
For the components I am going to choose between JBL, Infinity, Hertz. And maybe if LBM recommends some other. For the SUB, a sealed JBL would probably be enough, cos I am looking for a tight bass, not a deep drone. And a JBL 4 channel. Anyways, would be going in for the setup soon, as and when LBM and my time schedules permit us to meetup.
OUCH! Maybe we could think of redoing the setup as the first step, and spend more only when you know what you really need.
@vibzez, what car do you have?
What you need to do is to throw out the TS20 at least, and have the other stuff repositioned and rewired in a way that the individual pieces can be put in as drop-in replacements.
The pic of the "center Bosch speakers" is bad, but still those don't look like any Blaupunkt speakers at all, and the mounting position is amusing to say the least. Still...
First, replace that monstrous box with a box suitable for the Pio subs (a decent box wouldn't cost much). LBM-bhai would be able to help with the box dimensions based on the sub model. If the car is not too big and you are not trying to cause hearing loss to the neighborhood, maybe you could sell off one of the subs to recover money for the sub box.
Based on what car you have (we don't know), you could reposition the Alpine ovals (sell 2 of them, retain 2 - wonder why the dealer fobbed off 4 on you) to a parcel shelf or the rear doors or the rear hatch.
Buy a good genuine wiring set - Scosche, Pyle etc., not 'JBL', 'Sony' or Boss. Rewire the connections from the HU to the amps (better RCA cables) and the amps to the speakers. Throw out (OK, sell) the Boss cap.
Now listen to music for some weeks and try to figure out what could be better:
* Front sound stage (obvious, but anyhow)? (Front sound stage means that the singer and the orchestra appear spread out in front of you as if they are sitting on the bonnet!)
* Vocals? Phata bans singing?
* Too little / too much bass? Boomy bass?
* Rear much louder than the front?
and so forth...
Meanwhile, listen to systems in the cars of other TBHP members near you. Based on what you infer, set a budget (no, more money does not necessarily get you stuff that is better to your ears) and replace the items one at a time. You will probably first need to fit component speakers in the front (size and position based on your car) at least, replacing the "corner" speakers and the Pio tweeters. Next would be replacing the amplifiers.
I think you need to allocate few things here...
