A question
HU has 3 pre outs pioneer 5050
front,rear sub ( dunno if they are named in that way though)
what is expected to happen when
running front and rear speakers thru a 4 channel amp but the RCA's connected at the HU rnd are in the "front speaker" and Subwoofer" slots insted of the front and rear slots?

Rear speakers get the LPF output, and play only the stuff the sub is supposed to play( if they can play those frequencies at all )
the vocals etc might be faintly present.

A basic assumption made here is that the Sub output is LPF'd

Are the pioneer HU's made that way ? is the sub port Lpf'ed in the hu ITSELF (without doing any settings in the HU MENU) ?

or is it just a regular RCA port . no HPF or LPF applied

i mean if we want to connect regualr speakers to the "Sub out" RCA ports and then keep the "subwoofer" option off in the pioneer hu WHAT would happen?
would the speakers play all frequencies? or would it not play at all ( owing to the fact that ive kept the "subwoofer" output "off" in the menu

Sorry if I am hijacking the thread. If one uses Finolex cable for power, which brand fuse & fuse-holder should one get & how should they be connected together?

Some of the brands available are Ichibahn, Stinger, Audison and the cheap ones like BOSS etc. I bought a Ichibahn Fuse + Holder @ 450/-

It is connected in line with the power cable which goes from the battery to the amp. Look at some install pics and you'll get the idea.

Thanks navin, the car in question is the new indica vista , and from the pics , I think it has stock locations in the rear doors. So i guess that would be the best option!

what is the effect of flex in a subwoofer box.
im asking this question because i have seen many of a our members having FG enclosures for their subs in their boots.
i have started working on a cylindrical Aluminium (2mm thicknes) enclosure for a sub.

would flex more than the Aluminum sheet or less

i have seen posts before where gurus have mentioned using 0.75 thick MDF for the sole purpose of negating ANY kind of flex whatsoever,
LBM too has suggested thick enclosures with no flex

now if im building this Al sheet enclosure. i expect flex
I may also damp the inside with noisekill to reduce flex.(however in no way do i think it will mimmick the rigidity of a 0.75 inch MDF enclosure,or will it??)

please suggest

do you guys thick 2mm stainless steel would be better( however SS is a pain to work with bend and yes the enclosre would get heavy!)

MDF is really among the better stuff. You want the enclosure to be made of non resonant and amorphous material, like wood or even cardboard. The aluminum. I'm not sure. Even the ones I've seen were made from die cast al.

OT: local DIY subwoofers often involve taking an 8" woofer and putting it in an aluminum pot. Even I've tried doing it at home. Lots of SPL , but nowadays I know better :D

thats why the noise kill on the inner side

thats exactly what im planning/An aluminium custom made pot.
