If i've made 3 folders in my pendrive e.g hindi,western,classical then will the display panel should show me the names of the
folders n subfolders.

Secondly i should be able to view the name of the song on the panel and not 1,2,3,4 etc.

I should be able to make playlist n play them directly from my pendrive e.g like WINAMP playlist i.e.the songs should play in
the sequence already made in the pendrive.

While you can enjoy RnB and Class Rock without a sub in a Swift, Hip-hop will definitely miss a subwoofer.

Start with this (widely available brands in parenthesis)
HU with 3 pre outs: 6K (JVC, Pio)
Amp: 7K (Pio, JBL, Blau, Kenwood)
2 6" component and 2 6" coax Speakers: 9K (JBL GT5, Blau)
Wires and install: 3K

The diffcult part of the Swift is that the rear deck is awfully narrow. I dont think it could even accomodate a 8" sub. For my FIL's Swift I used 4 18cm woofers to fill out the midbass till about 40Hz. It works most of the music he listens to (Black Eyed Peas, Classic Rock etc.. but not for stuff like 2 Pac).

If you want to go with an open Sub, the sound quality wont be that great. My advice - put an amplifier only if you are putting in a subwoofer, else a good pioneer mouth with JBL speakers will do the job fine.

My friend just got his swift iced. heres the quotes, every thing apart from TS - 20 with bill.

Pioneer mouth DEH- 3090UB - Rs. 5800
JBL Amplifier GT5-A604 - Rs. 7200, (Sony 604 is another option - Rs. 5400, same OEM)
JBL Bass Tube CS1204T - Rs. 3800
JBL GT0938 Speakers - Rs. 3700
Scosche Wiring Kit - Rs. 3000
Pioneer TS - 20 - Rs. 1900.


This comes up to Rs - 25,400 in total.

Please dont go with Boss or Duplicate JBL wiring kits to restrain your budget, as they first F*** ur car battery and then your system.

Dear Gaurav, while a duplicate wiring kit is not advisable from many standpoints, it does not and cannot cause any damage to a car battery.

I am not seeing a compnent in this setup, which would be the best in car audio. With that budget and other equpments, I would have done

Pioneer mouth DEH- 3090UB - Rs. 5800
JBL Amplifier GT5-A604 - Rs. 7200, (Sony 604 is another option - Rs. 5400, same OEM)
JBL Bass Tube CS1204T - Rs. 3800
JBL 6.5" comps (607 or 608) - 6000
Scosche Wiring Kit - Rs. 3000

Total 25,800 (almost same).

With bass tube and 6x9 ovals doing all the loud things at rear, only some poor tweeters are there at front. There's no front sound stage here. Sorry no offense, but your friend got a bad advice from that installer. You could have consulted TBHP.

I was taking a walk in the accessories market and I found the following deals.
Blau GTA-480 (With B&W) 3200.
JBL Comps 608C (Without B&W) 4200. Will need to pay VAT if need B&W.

I have a couple of doubts - GTA-480 is a dual channel Amp, what does a dual channel amp means????
Are these fair prices for the comps & amp?
I've got the following setup in my Swift - Front - Sony Coax (I am not sure even if they are genuine)
Rear Parcel Tray - JBL 937 6X9's

This is my proposed setup -
JBL 608's In front
Sony Coax - Rear Seat
JBL 937's on Rear Parcel

Which All stuff would I be able to drive via the AMP considering it's a dual channel? Front Comps, Rear Coax?

Dual Channel Amp means 2 channels of amplification. So you would be able to drive only one pair of Speakers - either the Comps or the Coaxs / 6X9s.

A dual channel amp means it has only a pair of outputs, for left and right. A 4 ch amp means it has two pair of outputs (eg:- front left, front right and rear left, rear right). With a dual channel (2 ch) amp, you can only power a pair of speakers, either components at front or co-ax at rear or 6x9s at parcel tray while with a 4 ch amp you can power a pair of comps at front and another pair of speakers at rear. Also, most of the amps support bridging of channels and you can power a sub with two channels bridged, if it has adequate power output. Eg, a 4 ch amp, driving front components and sub (sub connected to the rear channels bridged for single output).

Do you have a plan to go for a sub later? A Sub is the best solution to handle low frequencies and bass, though 6x9 (ovals) can do a little justice. If you have a plan for sub, drop the idea of ovals and do only comps and co-axs (at door locations) for now. If you are not at all planning for sub, then ovals (6x9) would be better.

Consider stretching the budget a little bit and get a 4 ch amp. Power the JBL 608 with its front channel. If you are going with ovals, power them with amp's rear channel, else if you are getting a sub, bridge the rear channel and power the sub. Let the rear door co-ax be powered from head unit.

The above is for a budget install. Else, you can get a 4 ch for powering front comps and rear co-ax, another mono amp for sub. But then the budget will shoot-up. Search our installation thread for details.

The price seems very good, infact lower than what I heard.

I don't think that I'd opt for a sub - for the primary reason that I cannot sacrifice my boot space.

Can I direct the output of the Amp into 2 sets of speakers connected in parallel? Means - Can the AMP output be directed to Front Comps & Rear door Coaxials? Logic says I shoudl be able to do that - anyways this is not 5.1 or 7.1lol:


Any idea for how much a 4 channel amp would come around. Something which is comparable in output of Blau GTA-480, if it is more than INR 6400 would it not make sense to use 2 dual channel amps??? (or am I just being stupid here?)

Blau Amp is under stock clearance hence this is the price I am getting. For JBL 608's just roamed around in the market and haggled for 3 hours with various shops & this was the lowest I could get - then coolly walked out saying that I was looking for Infinity comps & 608's are not my first choice.cheers:

GTA480 is not a "dual-channel" amp, it is a 4-channel amp. Perhaps you got the model number wrong.

GTA280 is the 2-channel amp from Blaupunkt, as also the older GTA275. The price you were quoted is a decent price if with b&w.

You can, but 3 issues:
1. You lose the 'Fade front / rear' functionality
2. The 'image' will be somewhere in the middle of the cabin, whereas it is preferred to be in front of the driver. In the front seats, this is roughly like listening to headphones - no depth
3. The effective impedance of the front and rear speakers connected in parallel should not be lower than the lowest impedance supported by the amplifier. For example, if the front and rear speakers are 3.xx ohms each, the effective impedance connected in parallel will be 1.5x ohm. Then, if the least impedance supported by the amp is 2 ohms (most common case), either the amp will keep going into protection every couple of seconds when playing at a loud volume, or will blow the output stage if there is no protection.
Usually 1 4-channel is cheaper than 2 2-channel amps. GTA480 should be around 6K with b&w.

6K is an excellent price. I thought it had an MRP of 10K

i have seen in many brands in car audio like a blaupunkt gta 4 amp has a mrp of 6350/- and it retails for around 5k with b&w,kenwood stereo number 5039 has a mrp of rs8490/-and retails for 6.5k funny na

Now that you mention that, even I have a doubt about the price. Blau has 2 amps - the GTA4 Special Mark II and the GTA480. The one which has a direct Aux-in is the costlier one.

IIRC the gta4 special II is 6K and GTA480 is a bit more.
