Chetan, your best bet would be a small inverter which converts 12VDC from the cigarette lighter socket to 220V AC. VA rating should be roughly at least 50% more than the AC VA as given in the rating plate of your laptop's AC adapter.

A DC adapter has to be specific for you laptop model (DC voltage, current rating, VA rating - check the rating plate on your current AC adapter; also plug suitable for your laptop's DC socket) and cannot be used to power anything else.

Ok.
any place other than jc road , where i can check for this in banglaore?

Try eZone, SPAR or places like that.

Hi,
Thanks for your advice. I wanted to confirm if the 2 Channel Amp with Woofer/Bass tube is a good option or not?
Also does any 1 have details of the speaker system used in the Vista. I know the HU is Calrion, but have not been able to check the speakers & coax.
Honestly I was never happy with that sound quality, but didnt have much of a choice.
People please advice what I should do to improve the sound quality. My ears have been suffering since the past week now.

Consider a speakon connector if you need to do this. Also most Authorised showrooms cannot match the price anf variety of goods your ICE dealer can offer. Find a good well recommended ICE dealer in your neighbourhod nd check out his offerings.

Most on this forum have not been happy with Sony Speakers. Besides that piece of advice I'd advise you to stick to the big brands not brands line Dapic, Ultimate, etc.. Also I have notcied there is a brand called Velocity. This is not the same as Blaupunkt's Velocity.

Maverick,

How many RCA out does the clarion have? If atleast two then you are fine. Most probably the front speakers would be a pair of co-ax and seperate tweeters of low/average quality making all the chill chill noise.

Consider a 4 ch amp, a set of decent comps and a sealed box woofer. Throw those front speaker + tweeters out, install a decent pair of compos powering with front channel of the amp and a sealed box 12" woofer powered by the rear channel bridged. Keep the rear coax and power them from HU itself. This is the best basic/budget decent setup and will give you nice sound quality.

What is your max budget?

This will set you back 18-20K max

and dont buy a bass tube, and stay away from cheap ported boxes if you want quality bass. If you just want cheap and loud bass , then they will do quite fine :)

this is hardly the place but please can the gurus point me to a forum where i could get some advice on buying a home audio system.

foreign based forums are vast in knowledge-and too tech for me. i would prefer something like this.
simple and to the point and advice of components that can be sourced in mumbai

@ magma - sent you a PM

Guys,

I need help on deciding my next HU. I need to chose between JVC EXAD AVX 44, 33, 700. I am not including the 800 and 810 as they are little above my budget. Besides I really dont need a touchscreen.
I think the only difference between 700 and 800 is that 700 is not a touchscreen. The 700 should also include the timealignment option and should have the same 5 volt pre-out as the 800. Please let me know if my assumption is incorrect. Any other difference between 700 and 800?
The 44 and 33 are pretty much the same except that 44 has the motion senser and the blackout feature. I also read that the absence of buttons makes the 44 a little cumbersome to use. Any other difference between the 44 and 33?
I am more inclined towards the 700 or 33 because it would cost lesser than the 800/44 and in some cases it is more easier to use or has more options.
Between the 700 and 33 one has larger screen size and the other has bluetooth.
The only downsize though is that both 700 and 33 units would have been manufactured couple of years ago and left in the stockyard.
I need your help so that I can zero-in on one of the HUs. Please help me with the pros and cons of each of these HUs.
Thank you.

Guys,

Also suggest me a good DVC sub. I am currently having a JBL 3501 monoblock amp and JBL Gt5-12 SVC sub. I am told that this monoblock and SVC sub is not a good combination and am recommended going for DVC. Also please read my previous post in this thread and let me know your thoughts and suggestions.

I was recommended the Cerwin Vega vmax 12.4 and Alpine SWR 1242D. Any thoughts on these DVCs? Are there better ones that these?. Also let me know the approximate prices of the DVCs that you suggest.

Thank you.

One more question from me. Forget the prices and features between JVC AVX 44 and Pioneer 7950. How would you compare the SQ on the 7950 and 44?. Those who had the chance to compare the SQ on these two units please let me know. I know the 44 has lots more features but my primary requirement is good SQ and USB/IPOD integration. Both these two units have that and I want to select one that has better SQ. Please help.

BTW the reason for selecting 44 is because at that price point, it gives host of features. If the 44 gives as much SQ as the Pioneer 7950, I will go for the 44. However if there is too much compromise on SQ on the 44, then I would go for something like 7950.

I know at the price of the 44 there are other high end HUs like P80RSII, 9887 but my setup (speakers, AMPs etc) are not all that high-end and I may not do justice to the HU.

Guys,

I went for the AVX 44. I wanted to change the sub to DVC. I am using a monoblock JBL 3501, the car accessory guy says that the monoblock does not have enough juice for a 4+4 ohm DVC sub. He said he even tried a 4+4 ohm kicker sub and said it did not work (sorry I was not around at that time and I dont know the kicker model number also). could this be true?. From what I read in this forum, JBL 3501 monoblock is a very powerful amp and could be used with even the powerseries JBL P1224 sub. If what the car accessory guy said was true, any ideas on what could be the problem?.

Guys, please help.

Thank you.

Change the dealer/installer. He isnt good. Anyway, which sub. 360W @2ohm is good for most unless you are lbm:)

Atlast some one to my rescue. Thank you JKdas. I dont know the sub which he tried. However what are the options that I have in JBL, Kicker?. The dealer/installer is good and known guy and that is the reason why I thought there might be something wrong else where.

Wiring is the first thing, then the box design.
