He suggested me to look at the current setting for both front and rear channels. Then spray a little of WD40 into the switches and move the switches back and forth for a few times and bring them back to their original position.

This seems to have sorted out a similar problem in my setup too ! Been ok for 2 weeks now and counting !

Cheers to Ajay !

please help.
dose octavia need a separate double din adapter to fit in a double din head unit? do we have to open the glove box to change the head unit.

Hey guys,

How are Kicker speakers?
I am interested in a disco sound: Good, clear bass.

Since we have a fiesta, I can only put in 5*7 speakers and the options given to me were JBL and Kicker.
Given that JBLs are apparently bright, would Kickers fit my requirement?

Any other brands recommended? Budget around Rs. 5000 per pair.

Will be getting a JBL GT5 2ch Amp. and a Sub as well (brand undecided).

@Lamborghini, you can go for the Polk DB571, 5"X7" speakers for the rear they are really very good.

Check the below link

Best Budget 5x7" Coaxial Speaker: Expert Reviews & Rankings | Bestcovery

They are really good and cost around 5K.

Check them out...

@PR_007: Thanks for the link. Will check them out.

@Lamborghini, thanks, but you do not get good bass from a 5x7" speakers they tend to distort at high volumes, even speakers that are from DLS tend to distort. You can go for the 6x9" they are really good and have good bass.

The installer can fit them on a fiesta using a baffle or Spacer or somethingl ike that.

@PR_007: I am not into very high volumes. I like to hear the traffic.
Only at nights will I blast the music, otherwise it is reasonable to reasonably loud.
I am also getting a 12" sub to help out with the bass.

However, most of these brands weren't available with the retailer, so I have finalized 2 pairs of JBL GTO 5*7 speakers.
Also, changing the HU to an Alpine. Not sure of the model number, but it is the cheapest one with Aux-in, 2 pre-outs, bluetooth, inbuilt sub control, USB and the usual MP3/CD player.
Also getting a 2ch amp, made by Focal audio, but a cheaper sister brand. Have been told it is excellent. The amp will power a german made 12" sub.
Not sure of the brand.
Getting it done from Rhyme and Rhythm.

How does it sound? Total is coming to 35K with bill and warranty, wiring and installation.

Even I was searching for a good pair of 5*7 speakers for the Fiesta. I could find only 2 way speakers and all of them sounded very crappy. I finally installed JBL GTO 948 (6*9) with a spacer. There is a massive difference in SQ and output when you compare the 948 with any other 5*7 including ones from JBL, Polk and SoundStream. Are these 5*7 speakers going into the front? If they are, it's better to put component speakers powered by a 2 ch amp in the front. And get a monoblock for the sub. The rear can be powered by the HU. What is the name of Focal's cheaper sister brand and do they make monos?

@Gilead, I have a very limited budget. About 30K with bill.
Also, I don't want any drilling or anything to be done to the car at the moment as I am very fussy about these things given how close I live to the sea.
Hence, the only option for me are the 5*7 speakers, front and rear.
Components in the front would be amazing, but would become pretty expensive.

I will find out the name of the Amp tomorrow.

At the moment, thinking of this as an alternative set up:

- Basic Alpine HU with 1 pre-out
- JBL GTO 5*7 co-axial speakers front and rear
- MTX RT12PT sub and amp combination
Works out to Rs. 31,500

Works out to be a bit cheaper, and would sound better if I am correct.
What say?

Also, if I plug my phone in the AUX-IN, can I still use a bluetooth headset?

Focal's sister brand is The Auditor, they are really very good. They make subs, components and also 6x9" speakers. Very nicely priced and are really value for money.

You get auditor products in chennai also. They are really good stuff, very decent and simple and sweet products.

@lamborghini, be careful when choosing the 6x9" as they would become really powerful with the bass and will start over-shadowing the sub and you will not be able to appreciate the bass from the sub. So choose wisely

Regarding the HU, you need atleast 2 pre-outs one for the front speakers so that you can power the 2 channel amp from the front pre-out and then use the sub pre-out for the woofer.

You can try kenwood KDC x-794 they are really good with 3 pre-outs and individual controls for every output. Good sound clarity and depth. Try them you will like them....

@Gilead, yes the Auditor which is the sister concern for Focal Group make 2 channel, 4 and 5 channels and even mono amps. They make woofers, components and speakers too.

A VFM brand and priced very correctly. They are very much available in chennai.

lol: you need to get more detailed info. for us on this

@Pr_007:

I am actually getting 5*7 front and rear.
Also, the plan is to get a 2ch amp, powered by the one pre-out to drive the sub.
Now the only choice is:
- get the basic HU and MTX bass tube
- get an advanced HU and Helix sub and Auditor 2 ch. amp.

Which would be a better choice?

Also, how much is the kenwood KDC x-794 for?

@ramie2400, I don't quite get you..please explain your statement..

@Lamborghini, please check the below thread for the details on the kenwood head unit.

@Pr_007:

Thanks for your replies man.
The Kenwood was working out to be too expensive.

Instead, we have gotten the Alpine 100EUB HU, with JBL front and rear 5*7 speakers, and the MTX RT12PT.
Work is being carried out as we speak and will post an update once I hear the car.

Thanks for your help.
