Hello Gurus,

I have installed a Clarion XR 2410 with Phoenix Gold 6" Comps at front and JBL GT5 CS12 Sub woofer at bridged and GT5 S204 at rear from HU on my Beat. If I play heavy bass stuff to higher volumes, my amp choks as if its not getting enough current from the battery. First I thought its my CD is getting skipping but later I found that its from the amplifier. I have used a 16g Finolex cable to power the amplifier, will this be a matter for a mean 400W amp?

Gurujis
Anybody heard the Auditor RIP 4280 4 channel amplifier. How is it?
Is it better than the Kenwood 8401, if yes, how?
Any suggestions for a SQ budget Subwoofer within 5000?

Hi...abhipuru16, the auditor is a sub-brand of the Focal audio. They are a VFM brand and since it is a sister company of Focal we do not have to go too deep.

Check Whizzkid_ram, as he has purchased that amp recently for his car. Check the below link.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/sound-...wift-ddis.html

PM him for more details on the amp.

I have no idea about this brand. Is it good? Considering it is their entry-level brand do you recommend it?

Hey
I have a query.
Can an amplifier change the sound signature of speakers?
For example, Kenwood amps are know to be soft nice-sounding. JBL components however are regarded as bright by some people. Now, if we use JBL Components (BRIGHT) with KENWOOD Amp, would they sound less bright.

To sum it all, how much role does an amplifier play when one wants to have a certain kind of sound signature in his setup?

Or to be even more precise, is it very much required to audition Amplifiers of various brands or would it be fine if we go by the specs and Power Ratings? Is an extensive audition required while buying amplifiers only for your component speakers (Which are MTX Components in my case)?

How do I decide which 4-Channel amplifier to buy?

Go to the shop ask him to give a demo of few of the amps available choose which you like the most.

1. What do you mean by "amplifier chokes as if ..."??? What noise / alarm / observation is making you say that?

2. "Skipping" would mean you are missing some passages of music, i.e. the song jumps instantly from one point to another without playing what is missing. Not being able to hear some passages would be that you are not able to hear the song for a few seconds.
This is an indication that the amp is going into protection due to overheating. Either improve the air circulation around the amp so that it does not overheat, or don't play loud. You should play within the limits of your system, and not think that all systems can play really loud

3. And no, a cap is not going to help in your situation

While you are right that you can make a bright speaker less bright by using it with an amp that is laid back I am not sure if the Kenwood in particular is laid back enough.

Thanks DerAlte for the answer.

Oops, I was trying to say as you said Actually its not skipping it will continue the song as if the HU's got a shock of thump or so.

Indicator shows normal as there's no colour change in LED. If I push to its limits colour will change to amber and the sound will change, but this is before that indication.

I used to listen the music high volumes with engine off in my home where no one is there to tell me to lower the volumelol:.

Yes, I can feel the ambient temp in the car will get heated up within 10-15 mins evenif my blower is set to take fresh air. I never thought that its the amp limit as I can keep my hands over the amp to feel the heat and its not that hot too.stupid:

I've installed the amp on the left side of my hatch wall behind the rear seat. May be because of insufficient air circulation its over heating. I will check this while on driving and get back with more details.

Hi All. A quick question, please let me know how will the DLS UR6S components sound. Is it good because it is not listed in the current www.dls.se site of the Ultimate components list. Is it a archived model???

The dealer is quoting 16K for this model. Is the buy worth it??

I was looking at DLS MS6A. Any known difference between the two??

Iam confused between two headunits and two component speakers. Please help.

HU (inside 12k):
Pioneer 5250SD (SD Card, 4V RCA Out)
or
JVC KD-R716 (5V RCA Out, Bluetooth etc)
or
Any Alpine available?

Components (inside 7k range):
Hertz
or
Infinity

Note:
- I have with me a used 12" JBL Bass tube, JBL Rear oval speakers (300w pmpo) and a 2 channel amp from my old car.
- I plan to get another 2/4 channel amp (to drive the comp speakers atleast) along with the sub-woofer.
- i want more clarity of sound at medium volumes than anything else. I mean the sound of guitars should be crystal clear while playing some rock English numbers.

Please suggest what units should I go for. Or atleast suggest the best combination from the above.

Budget for getting the 'remaining' things in my Car Audio would be 25k and my new Car is Swift.

Hi Gurus,

Could anyone help me with the same please. Finally I have come down to this:
1) Pioneer 7250SD
2) Infinity Components
3) 4 Channel Amp JBL
4) Rear JBL GTO 937 Ovals (I have already)
5) Auzo 2 Channel Amp for Sub-Woofer (I have already)
6) JBL Bass Tube (I have already)

Please advice me on items 2 and 3. (Which are the best brands?)
- How would hertz compare against Infinity? Dealer said Infinity is far ahead.
- How about 4-channel amp (JBL) ?

What my real confusion is about the combination of Amp and speakers. Some say while selecting a speaker it should suit the kind of amp used, is it? So since I already have the JBL GTO 937 ovals, should I first start looking at a 4 channel amp suitable for that and then get a set comp speakers which again suits the amp?

Car is Swift.

Thanks

I prefer Infinity over Hertz, but that is me. Infinity is not bright, Hertz can be. JBL amp should do well with Infinity. The 937 should work just fine with a JBL amp. Are you looking at a JBL 644 amp or something?

Thanks for the response. I dont have an idea about the models.
What dealer said is infinity comp at 6.5k and 4 channel jbl amp at 6k.

Can you please tell me what you mean by 'bright' ?

See Im more looking at depth of music - the guitar effect etc

Gurus, Need advice..

My current setup (in an Alto):

- Pio 5050UB Headunit (3 pre-outs)
- JBL GT5 4" co-ax up front
- JBL GT5 6x9 co-ax for rears
- JBL GT5 A604 Amp powering them all

I am pretty happy with the way the setup sounds. And for 4" co-ax's, the GT5's are doing pretty good job and the soundstage is maintained..

Now being a true TBhpian, I am planning to upgrade to an entry level sub, well it might take some time to actually install one.

My queries are,

- Can I get rid of my 6x9's, keep the 4"ers up front and add a sub, probably an 8 or 12" one?
- How high can a Sub go? I've currently HPF'd the fronts at around 160-180 I guess.
- Can I LPF the sub at the same freq? Will I lose any frequencies?
- Which kind of enclosure will allow the sub to go as high and low as possible? I personally prefer a sealed one for SQ.
- Which VFM sub is recommended to be added in this setup? And the estimated costs?

I do understand the best option would be to add 6.5" components up front and then add a sub for the lows. But as of now I am not looking for that option as it would require much more investments in the drivers and damping.

Please help with your comments and suggestions.
