bybyte having double din trim ring is of 186mm (W) x 109mm (H) and i don't think its enough ... what i found interesting is this one below.

METRA 99-9999 Radio mounting kit Universal ISO Trim; Universal trimring to finish off a double DIN radio installation, can also finish off two ISO stacked radios, trim ring is scored on back for easy trimming DASHKITS;

If there is i20 model without factory fitted head unit, I would advice you to order the centre facia and mounting brackets from Hyundai Service. I did the same for my i10 Asta. Ordered the stuff from Manga and installed my Car PC. Since it is original stuff, finish and fit is perfect.

Re: i20 - Aftermarket HeadUnit possible?

For the folks on this thread: any updates since the last post? I'm looking to upgrade the head unit in my i20 Asta, since I want integrated bluetooth. Would you know if there are any head units that will fit in the 2-DIN spot and work with the steering controls / song name in the LCD? If the head unit's bluetooth integrated with the car's speakers I'll be really happy.

Looking forward to replies. It would also be very helpful if someone could point me to a reputed or "experienced with i20s" shop in Bangalore where I can go to to buy the HU and get it installed.

Re: i20 - Aftermarket HeadUnit possible?

Thanks! Could you let me know the model of that Pioneer HU? Any idea if it can be connected with the steering audio controls? What about the stock USB/LCD system?

Also, the facia seems to be a packaged piece. Is it branded or does it have a model number?

Its a pio4250,yes you can connect the OE steering control, and the original USB/AUX socket needs to be removed and replaced with the aftermarket USB/AUX out.

GPS also can be connected to this system to this

I got the Pioneer 4390 2 Din in my i20. You will need an interface (An Hyundai - Pioneer interface) to have the steering controls working. Costs an extra 3-4k. The fascia is an optional thing. You can get the player installed without the fascia too. I have it without the fascia. No problems from the past 20 days i have been using it

Stock USB becomes a dummy. The stock LCD also will go into the Source off mode (the mode where it shows just the 2 trip meters and the engine run time). You will also miss the 'dark' feature and you will not be able to turn off the stock LCD display.

I have the illumination control installed, so the brightness of the both the pioneer player's LCD and the stock LCD can be controlled through it.

Re: i20 - Aftermarket HeadUnit possible?

nice detailed post..
I was wondering if I can upgrade my Stock HU to the one with the new bluetooth feature. Even the steering wheel has Call pickup/hangup buttons. Is it possible ? Whats the most economical can it be done in ?

Nice pics bro. HU looks good.

Couple of questions.

1. How is the visibility in the daylight? Can you operate easily?

2. How much did it cost you? Does it come with bluetooth?

The visibility is good enough even in the daytime. The HU cost me 25,000(with 2years warranty) & no its without the bluetooth.

this is from a friend of mine's asta.
Adding an aftermarket HU doesn't seem that simple, since the controls are integrated into the fascia, and there are other controls on the fascia as well. Even swapping the Fascia with the lower variants will end up with loss of functionality apparently

Any options?
