Friends, any suggestions on how to sound-deaden the boot lock?

I had some free time today, so bought some desi damping material and installed it on the boot door. The results were great considering the damping material was a mixture of butyl rubber + some pad type foamy material. The only thing that vibrates now is the boot lock, makes this annoying grrrr grrr sound on some bass-heavy tracks. Any pointers will be really helpful!

It can't be the boot lock. Does the hatch move when pulled by hand? Quite likely not. If it does, ask the service guys to align the latch hook so that it doesn't.

There must be something else loose inside the hatch, or the number plate rattle must be misleading inside the cabin. Check for loose cables - stay them down by stuffing some rolled closed cell foam under the sheet metal members.

And a loose cable it was! Thanks DerAlte!

Dunno how I managed to change its position while damping. But the fix was a simple one. Have tied the cable as of now. I am amazed by the difference with this 'jugaad' damping as of now. Thinking that I should source a few sheets of NoiseKill and go for a proper round of damping. Also tightened a few loose wires for the front doors and the ride is much silent now. (damn these Maruti guys, didn't even use proper clips when installing Central Locking! )

@S.I.N.G.H
Dhanwad veere! As I posted, the Illusion Components cost me around 5k. This included shipping and B&T included approximately 1 sq feet of damping material in it too! I went for components as I had auditioned a few co-axials and didn't like their sound at all. With components you can control the sounds-stage with proper tweeter placement. Am pretty happy with the 4"ers as of now but might go for 6.5" soon. Let me know if you need any more info, will be glad to help.

4" components

thanks lord. that piece of information was really helpful. my requirement is only the components, and not the damping, and my budget is 4k. could i get any good 4" components in this budget?

actually what vibrates is the lid that covers the cavity in the hatch that opens to the lock mechanism. the second thing that vibrates is the rear mounted tail lamp. apart from this there is a linkage in the lock that vibrates.
i have successfully nullified all vibrations in my alto.
1. remove the lid. paste a soft cloth or a thin foam or even the same material pasted on the boxes will do. paste it properly all over so that it covers both the sides.

2. take a tyre tube or some rubber piece and insert it between the tail lamp and the sheet metal. this should be tight. dont worry the tail lamp wont break.

3. after opening the lid check the lock linkages. paste some heavy rubber pieces or foam on the linkages. i have done the same on the door locks as well.

@S.I.N.G.H
It'll be tough to find quality 4" inch components in that range. For price details, you can get in touch with Bass&Trouble who represents Illusion Audio in India.

@nitin.dangayach
Thanks bro! Damage? Well, so far close to 30k give or take.

@maverick
Sir, what a setup! You have a fine taste for acoustics.
And the tuning couldn't have been better for the genre of music you follow.

@abhibh
Wasn't expected them to be this good! For the price I'd say they are a steal!

@amit_mechengg
Thanks bro for sharing this! Out of the 3 points you listed, no. 2 was the most annoying. Used some paper folded a few times and inserted it between the tail lamp and the sheet metal. Will check out the remaining 2 soon when I go for proper damping.

Congrats man! as you already have 4.1 you could have only purchased the mid bass driver. The crossovers and tweeters are same for 4.1 and 6.1.

This is exactly what Technocrat did to his alto. See this http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/sound-...-mid-bass.html
