SPARK ICE - Going out of my budget

Present setup:
HU :KENWOOD MP6043U
Front :Co-ax Hertz DCX 100
Rear :6x9 Polk DB690 on MDF Tray

refer this thread for details:
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/ask-g...m-spark-6.html

I love listening to all types of songs from Indian classics to Hip-Hop. I did not want to spend too much on car ICE and settled for a budget music system and I was happy with the above setup. It all changed when I was cleaning my car rear seats with ICE swithed ON. Observed that rear DB690 sounds nice but front DCX 100 sounds nice but not up to the mark!!. I use Sennheiser PX100 headphones with my ipod and observed there is a major difference in SQ between ipod+PX100 and my budget setup in SPARK. Difference is significant when I listen to Oakenfold mixes.

Upgrade:

I recently got alloys and leather/PU mix seat cover fitted also had to pay for minor body repair
caused by an idiot Tata ACE driver. So Very tight on budget and decided to do the ICE upgrade in 2 stages.

Stage 1 - Budget 5-6K
Illusion Electra 4.1 components at front stock location in place of DCX100 (thanks to SPARKled for the
suggestion). I do not want to cut the front door to fit bigger comps like IL 6.1,
but will check this option at EVO this weekend. Any other suggestions?

Stage 2 - Budget 10-15K
Decent AMP and SUB - I am a noobie, gurus pour your suggestions
I will be happy If I get some space to keep 1-2 Air bags after fitting AMP and SUB @ boot

Aren't those factory-fitted in the dash?

Your plan looks good. If you want space in the boot, think of a side mounted fiber glass enclosure which will not occupy much floor space. The amps can be mounted under the front seats, though mounted on a plank behind the rear seats is also unlikely to cause problems with boot space.

My bad!! what I meant was 2 hand bags...!!

One of my friend was suggesting to go for a 2 Ch amp + Sub in addition to the existing setup. According to him this is more than enough for a car like SPARK :-)).

I would say that you should go with a four channel amp from kenwood, infinity, Gz depending on your budget. For the speakers the illusions are a very good choice. From your sub you should be thinking of GZ 30T.

Illusion Electra 4.1 is not available in bangalore, may have to contact B&T.

Amp and Sub are planned in Jan - Thinking of JBL 1004 and GZ 30T, Can anyone give an idea on price?

Hi Latheesh

Your existing choice of equipment is good. Illusion 4.1 sound great in a SPARK. I guess that has something to do with how the speakers are mounted in the dash. I had the Illusions 4 inch components in my Alto and they did their duty pretty well for more than 80% of the tracks. In some tracks, I could easily notice the lack of 'notes' in mid-bass (80-150Hz). A jugaad for this was setting the LPF for the sub at 120Hz and adjusting the gains in a way that the rear co-axials fill in some of the mid-bass.

Going for 6.5 inch components will provide a huge improvement in sound though. As for the amp/sub, JBL 1004 is a great choice! Try to audition a few subs before selecting as each sub has a unique sound signature. Good luck!

The 1004 is not available as of now from JBL, your only chnces are grey or if someone has old stocks with them. The MRP though is 14990.The MRP of GZ 30T is 7990.

Thanks thelord, DjNik for the reply.

I do not wanna cut my front doors so IL 4.1 will go to the stock location

Regarding Amp and Sub - I am a noobie and have no idea about the tech details. What is the best bet for the budget 15K (incl wiring).

Your choice of the JBL 1004 & GZ 30T is good, but the availability of the 1004 is the problem else its a very good amp,the other amps in this range are GZ 4100HP & JBL GT5-S644 but personally i dont like the GT5 series from JBL and would recommend you even to stay away.
For the sub you can even consider the polk Db 1240, IMO a very good sub for the price,Mrp is 6500 but you can get a decent discount on it.
For the wiring I would recommend you to get a 8 gauge amp kit from scosche, good pricing and quality.

I have placed the order for comps and expecting to arrive the same this weekend

Local installer suggested the following:

Amp - JBL GT5 S644 - 6000/-(with bill and warranty)
Sub - Hertz with ready to fit box - 10" sub - (model no. 504 I think) - 4200/-
Original JBL wiring - 2000/-

Total - 12200/- (incl installation)

Get a GZ 4100HP amp instead of the JBL GT5-S644, better quality amp but only if budget permits.

As for the Hertz Ive never heard any of them so cant comment, maybe some other member can comment.

There are a lot of fake JBL amp kits in the market, make sure its the original one with the sticker of Sahil Internationl at the back.

IL4.1 comps are already dispatched by B&T, should reach me on wednesday.
Local accessory guy is quoting 11K for JBL 1004 (with bill and warranty). Is this price OK?
