ID would cost a bomb here compared to what you can get through the "US" channel.

Try searching ebay with image dynamics and you'd be surprised to know the difference in prices. You may also get IDQ @ebay.

@abibh - The setup will be in a santro for a year or 2 at the max. I have plans to carry over the setup to my new car (probably a sedan) in future.

I know its cost effective to buy from the states. But all these subs weigh close to 10 - 12 kgs. Getting hold of somebody who can bring it down to India is problem.

Would you guys suggest any other options for the subwoofer ?

Any model numbers and prices pls.

How good are shallow mount subwoofers ? Can they be considered as an option ?

1. ::: Ground Zero ::: I use a pair of Radioactive series subs. Go low and fast.

2. Please dont look those as options.. I've heard only Pioneer shallow mount and wasn't impressed. Upon checking here in the forum, got to know that gurus dont recommend those.

Hybrid Audio Technologies

How are Hybrid Audio Technologies speakers ? Has anybody at the forum tried Clarus or Imagine line speakers ? They seem to have won many IASCA championships in recent years.

Just for the info, DD's are great for sub choice and are designed just for ported box along with most of the RE subs. However DD subs are excellent choice as SQL or SPL setup. But for purely SQ comps/speakers there are many more options.

Does anybody have experience with the Arc audio amplifiers, KAR Series in particular ? On Arc Audio website its mentioned that these amplifiers were designed by Robert Zeff.

How would the Arc Audio KS 300.4 fair against the Rainbow iPaul 4.300 ?

They are suppose to be one of the finest SQ amps especially signature Edition (SE). However pick any of those Arc amps and you will be more than happy. They have good tonal quality. One can never go wrong with the Arcs.

The Clarus series quality exceeds a lot of counterparts which costs much more like Hertz MLK 165 and so on. They are very good set of speakers

Few clarifications regarding subwoofer selection

1. Which of the below setups would sound better ...
setup 1 - ID12 D2 V.3 subwoofer ( rated 400 W RMS ) driven @ 4 ohms load by an amplifier putting out 300 - 500 W RMS @ 4 ohms

setup 2 - ID12 D4 V.3 subwoofer ( rated 400 W RMS ) driven @ 2 ohms load by an amplifier putting out 400 - 600 W RMS @ 2 ohms

2. In ID website its mentioned that these subs sound better in sealed enclosures. Doing this would we still be able to generate decent amount of SPL ?

3. What are the ideal sealed & ported enclosure sizes for ID subs ?

The JL would be a great sub to own but it would cost an arm & leg if its to be bought here.
