Re: Maruti Super Carry LCV launched at Rs. 4.01 lakh

Looks like a chopped and rebranded Maruti Omni/Ertiga! Wonder why most manufacturers do not bring a more heavy duty commercial pickups like the Toyota hilux.

For the time being, Maruti has authorised its existing channel of Maruti dealers to sell Super Carry LCV. This will be the setup, till their dedicated Commercial channel comes in.

Maruti’s Super Carry takes 5 percent market share in India’s mini-truck market.

Quote:
As per the latest sales numbers from apex industry body SIAM, the 793cc, diesel-engined vehicle has helped the company grab a 5 percent market share in the 2-tonne mini-truck segment in H1, 2017 and in the process has become the third largest player in the segment which is dominated by Tata Motors’ Ace and Mahindra & Mahindra’s Jeeto range of SCVs.

A major shake up has happened in 2017. TML launched the XL series across all its variants. M&M moved to the 45 PS Supro from Maxximo and the Carry remains as it is. Sustaining the 5% market share will be a tough task as the competition has moved ahead already.

Looks like, the Dost and Super Ace are counted among Pick ups along with the Mahindra Bolero Maxi

Re: Maruti Super Carry LCV launched at Rs. 4.01 lakh

Maruti Suzuki's score-card on the LCV Super Carry.

Maruti Suzuki currently ranks fifth in the LCV segment after M&M, Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland and VECV. It is ahead of players like Force Motors, Piaggio and Isuzu.

Quote:
The company had sold 460 units of LCV, branded as Super Carry, in the April-January period of FY17. Sales multiplied manifold to 7,369 units in the first 10 months of this financial year.
Maruti is betting big on the prospects of the segment. It has also started shipping LCVs and has exported 900 units.

Maruti Suzuki is rolling out the retail network for LCVs in phases. Super Carry is being retailed through 172 new commercial outlets in 25 states. Like Nexa (Maruti’s network to sell premium cars), only existing dealers of the company are eligible for the LCV business.

Quote:
however, has a long way to catch up with segment leader Tata Motors, which sold 14,286 units of ACE range of mini trucks in March alone.

In contrast, MSI sold 1,412 units of the Super Carry in the same month.
Quote:
Starting LCV sales in 2016 in select cities, the company has expanded across the country to over 190 sales outlets at the end of March 2018

What's stopping Maruti from launching the Super Carry, in a passenger van format? This is and should be, the ideal replacement for the Omni.

Spotted many Super Carry on the roads in Kerala ( Kannur) during my trip couple of weeks back. If Kerala starts buying then rest of the country will follow.
