Speaking of liveries, Saudi Arabian airlines has gone the other way and are bringing back their livery from the 80s. Never seen an airline do this before (except some one-off retro liveries by British Airways, Vistara etc.).

Oh neat! Reminds me of the classic Williams F1 livery from the Keke Rosberg era (iirc). I've got a lot of time for retro liveries done right like this. Would've been absolutely incredible if Air India did similar and brought the centaur back for eg. Get that retro cool vibe back, lean on the heydays under JRD Tata.

Typically, Whenever Airbus delivers a plane, they will issue a press statement and advertise that heavily on SM platforms. On top, they will issue a press statement on their site. Nothing of that sort have happened from what i know. Here, they are delivering a Plane to famed AIR INDIA and even faces are blurred. Never seen them blurring the faces. Yes, AI Have completed the leasing formalities and think that triggered this image for generating some much needed website traffic .

Probably a silly question but how come this new plane doesn't have the new livery? Especially when the new A350 further up the thread is being painted with that livery? Is it just that it's sexier to launch a new scheme in a big old flagship aircraft rather than a humdrum workhorse A320?

Btw, excellent sleuthing work by the guys earlier when it came to that doctored image. It had me fooled, though I probably should've been a bit suspicious at the blurred faces.

Because this A320neo is not the part of 470 aircraft order placed by Air India post its take over by Tata group.

This A320NEO is part of the leasing agreement signed in 2022 of 25 Airbus A320neo family jets.

4 A321neos were delivered. 1 A320neo delivered now & 20 are pending.

These A320s were formerly operated by Air Asia India. After Tata acquired the airline, they renamed it as Air India Express Connect ( which seems temporary). It seems a few of those A320s were/are in the process of being transferred to Air India Express and repainted in AIX's new livery.

A320NEO VT-ATD was the first ex-Air Asia India aircraft to be transferred and now repainted in the new AIX livery.

It is not known what will be the fate of these A320s once the 737 MAXs start coming in and fleet numbers build up.

It is also now clear that unlike in the past, AIX will be deploying their aircraft on many domestic routes. From next month, AIX will be starting their Mangalore - Bangalore service( a route that Indigo had monopolised after the demise of Jet Airways and Spicejet being in a mess)
