Volvo Multi axles are always on spot on time. Have taken them from TVM- BLR.

Cheers!

Even this blanket statement is inaccurate as Neeta had a breakdown on Mumbai - Mangalore around two months back. so be specific

Not to mention the excellent frequency - In peak hours there are as many as 7 buses per hour!

If you reach Mumbai by 11, here will be AC buses (Routes AS-1 and A-13exp) too for VT. They dont halt at the terminating stop of Volvos though. You will have to alight somewhere before Dadar. Here are the stops of AC bus between Sion and dadar: Priyadarshini, Everard Nagar, Sion (Down), Sion Hospital,
Maheshwari Udyan, Kapol Niwas (not too sure whether Priyadarshani and Kapol nivas lie on path of Volvo. The rest surely do).

Instead of getting down along the route, why not get down at Dadar itself i.e. last stop of the Pune-Mumbai Volvos and walk down to the Dadar TT stop infront of Babubhai Jagjivandas. I am sure all buses going townside would surely stop there.

P.S: Yup, both Priyadarshini and Kapol Nivas is on the path of the Volvo.

I was thinking it would be faster to take train from Vashi to VT than the bus to Dadar and then a bus to VT, especially considering the traffic

Getting into a train at Vashi (unless and untill it starts from there) would be a challenge in itself. As most of the trains nowadays start from Panvel, there are limited services from Vashi to VT.

Re: Intercity Bus travel reviews

Did this terrible mistake of taking a KPN sleeper from Chennai to Pollachi early may. Seats were dirty, AC cooling was insufficient.

(And later in the return trip through blue mountain express found the train berths soiled).

Thats true too. Thanks for the update; I am out of tune with transport in Mumbai; havent travelled there in the last few years.
I will try to take the MSRTC and then take one of the options to VT. If not, I may just try to get a direct train from Pune to Mumbai; I hope the cutlets/ omelets are still as good on the DQ

Re: Intercity Bus travel reviews

@selfdrive

MSRTC has very good frequency and has good AL CHEETAH CNG buses which have rear air suspension.

BEST King long AC buses have a frequency of 30 mins.

Depending on the time , you can travel from Vashi to dadar in 20-45 minutes time range.

You can get down at Suman Nagar and catch King Long AC buses coming from Thane going towards VT.

Re: Intercity Bus travel reviews

Just did a Bangalore - Mumbai - Bangalore in a KSRTC Volvo Club Class.
Left Bangalore at 12.45pm and reached Borivili at 7.15am.
Left Goregaon at 7.45pm. Rain started pouring from 8.30pm. Crawled through Mumbai - Pune section due to a massive traffic jam. Reached Pune 3 hrs late. Reached Bangalore at 5pm.
The drivers were safe and smooth and never rushed through any section. The roads were mostly wet throughout the trip.

How is club class different from regular KSRTC Volvo?

I don't remember the leg-room in regular Volvos...but this one had good leg-room. Other than this being multi-axled i didn't notice any difference.
No bed-bugs yet.

Club class has thigh support for each seat.

Plus, each Volvo Club-class (Volvo B9R) has emergency exit so 2 particular seats on the right column have extra leg room (akin to that in airplanes).

Thirdly, each row has a separate plug-point (in contrast with 1 plug point every 3 rows in normal Volvo : Volvo B7R).

Lastly, there is a foldable LCD screen right in the centre of the bus (by far the worst thing they could do to passengers!).

And yea, the upholstrey, curtains are much better.

Re: Intercity Bus travel reviews

How often the Volvo cruising on GQ, get into towns?
Or is that they get into towns which are in their route plan?

Is it irritating in any way? Getting in and out of GQ time and again?

I've been on the Pune-B'lore and B'lore-Chennai routes of the GQ. The Volvos don't get into any towns on these routes, IIRC.

Their designated stops are only those which fall en route.

Eg. For the B'lore-Mumbai service, none of the buses enter Pune city. They drop off the Pune passengers at the Katraj bypass.
