Re: The Heavy Trucks thread

@aparbansal

From where do you get this 20% market share in the 25ton tipper segment?? I seriously doubt this value.

Did AL 2514 Exist

Today I came across a very peculiar, infact unheard model called 2514 from AL. To the best of my knowledge I have not heard of 2514 from AL.with 140 HP engine the product in multi axle segment was only 2214 ( WB - 198" and 180").
This was with a regular 180" model only but carrying a different name. Any one who is aware can throw light on this.

A Prima 4028S truck carrier. First of its kind seen other than Sidhi Vinayak Logistics. Surprise to see the trailor being made by Lohr.

Re: The Heavy Trucks thread

AL had some super flop models in their stable. Strangely those were something which are rarely seen on road neither all have heard about.

1 : Comet NC - A 16t SFC model based on the ever famous CO1611 chassis. have seen some 2 or 3 trucks of that model which was followed by the bison from their stable.

2 : Comet Minor : A 4 cylinder model launched with 95HP power.GVW was 12t.

3 : Comet Junior : another LCV from the stable. dont really know the difference between minor and junior.

4 : Comet 110 : This too is a very rare specimen and surprisingly this was a fully built model. Have seen only one of these at Thrissur. Even searching about this model in google, i couldnt find it. anyway will post its pic the next time i see.

5 : Chital : One of the best models of 90s. lauched in 1988, chital was a 4 cylinder 27 seater mini bus. at that point of time it was FB model with body provided by Azad. i had travelled in it and it was damn smooth too.

6: Comet super / super comet : Again another 16t truck from AL. dont know the difference of this model between 1611.

Anyway guys..if you have something more to add into this line up, it would be interesting.also if you have any snaps of these models, please post them up.

Re: The Heavy Trucks thread

@urzdeepu: There was another model named Tusker Super, and then a Tusker Turbo - I've seen exactly one example of each, and both were Coimbatore registered.

Are you sure the Comet Super is a truck chassis? Because a few of KeSRTC's SWB buses (Fleet no TS410, TS409, etc) had "Comet Super" badges on the front bumper

Re: The Heavy Trucks thread

I cant say for sure, but I think I have spotted a few 2514 models a few times, though yes the 2214 is far more common.

As for the trailor behind the Prima, I think the LOHR name has to be mentioned due to the fact that the design is from LOHR and not because the trailor is built by them. It is built under license from LOHR, most likely by TML or a its sub contractor.

Though yes, surprised to see one of these not from SVL. The registration is not very visible, but was it NL registered, and could you get a full name of the transporter??

This website seems to have some problem.
THe WB mentioned for 2514 is 240", this is certainly wrong.
The vehicle had 180" WB and even if you consider the same option of 2214 it should be only 198".

If it is a swb bus, chances are that it is a truck chassis.

@Silversteed. : Tusker Super and Tusker turbo are 2 most successful truck models. The former being the 2214 Euro 1 model and the latter being the 3516 Euro 1 model. There was one more model called Tusker gold which was powered by a 132HP AL LTC Engine.

Comet super was a truck model and if am right it looked a bit shorter than the ordinary CO1611. but still not sure though.

The Lohr trailer seems little weird. Is it an extendable trailer? What purpose does it serve?inbetween the trucks rear wheels and the last three trailers the base of the trailer seems some what different to me.

Re: The Heavy Trucks thread

The trailor is a specialised one for carrier other heavy vehicles. You can check out some pics at the link below.

Comet Super was the model with a longer front overhang and was very popular as a petroleum tanker, where it was mostly used. The product dates back to the mid-80s. If I am not mistaken, the Tusker series came after this.
