It won't load the circuit IMHO.

Re: D.I.Y. Install: LED Footwell Lighting

Good DIY Anurag!

I had used the LED strips to make the design around a place where we used to host Ganesha idol at home during festivals. The area used to be lit with lights all the time during Ganesha Festival. The 3M tape wouldn't hold good in the surrounding heat. The LED strips were china made. The strip's so called 3M glue used to get dry and wont hold the strip beyond a day.

Hope in this case the glue is strong enough to hold the strips even when you park the car in sunlight.

Re: D.I.Y. Install: LED Footwell Lighting

Detailed write-up with sufficient data / snaps, good one anurag

I have a similar setup in Baleno

Since old Baleno never came with 'Theater dimming' cabin lamps, is it possible to add a separate circuit (or the delay timer)?

PS: I wish the LED strip is tucked inside the dash a little more

Get this and add it in the circuit between the power source and LED strip.

12V Mini LED Controller

EDIT:

Here is a video that gives it's functions.

That is the end of the lower part of the dashboard buddy. Nothing more below!

See this image, you can see the strip stuck. There is a metal frame behind it but I was not wanting to stick this on that bracket and wanted something plastic so things are safer in the long run.

Thanks for the link. I was in a assumption this circuit will cost at least 500 bucks and little surprised after seeing the price. Ordered 1 and let me keep posted after installation

Re: D.I.Y. Install: LED Footwell Lighting

This couldn't have come at a more appropriate time for me. Few months back I had ordered the LED with remote lights from Aliexpress. The good part is the lights are powered from the charging socket in the car. However that is not serving my purpose as I have to manually switch it On & Off. Is it advisable to power the charging socket by connecting it to the roof lights? My car is still under warranty so don't want to splice any wires.

Any advice will be highly appreciated.

Yes, you can.

Unless there is no wire splicing or using an higher load rated device, warranty should remain safe IMO.
PS: In most cases warranty depends on the relationship rather than the actual modification done.

If you don't mind, can you please post the link of the item?

Why not use Fuse tap cable to power the LED strip from your cars fuse box?

The above process is totally reversible and has no effect on warranty.

This circuit works on cyclic manner (On --> Dim --> Off --> On --> Dim --> Off --> ) This can't be used for the purpose of "theater dimming" roof / foot well lamp in cars.

Can you please post a small video showing the functioning? Thanks.

I passed it to my friend to use it as Indicator flasher in his bike (after LED conversion) Let me check if he / self could get a video of the same. But it works exactly same as the vide that you posted.

PS: I didn't check that video before ordering from eBay since YouTube is blocked at my work location.

This is the cabin lamp of my Aspire.

D.I.Y. Install: LED Footwell Lighting-20170309_091712.jpg

How do I go about drawing power from this. It is for puddle lamps that will go at the bottom of all 4 doors.

Or is there any solution without cutting the OEM wires. Note that my fuse box does not have any fuse that says "cabin lights" or "interior lighting"

Black (Single socket) is direct +ve
Yellow & Violet (Combined socket) is -ve, one from the door switch and other is direct -ve

To avoid cutting the OE harness, you may use 'Single to double horn' harness (reference shown below, comes with Minda twin horns) available in 2 wheeler spares shop. OR make one yourself with the end connectors easily available.

D.I.Y. Install: LED Footwell Lighting-horn.jpg

Plug the male sockets to OE harness (direct +ve and -ve signal from door switch) and use one set of female sockets to OE cabin lamp and the other set to power the puddle lamps (with an inline fuse)

PS: Checked for similar solution in Gen 1 Figo and works fine.

Fantastic Idea
Will hunt for it right away.

But the switch would not control the puddle lamps - would they? Any idea for that?
