UPDATE: Bulb Failure

A week back started noticing the difference in the colour of the bulbs after warming up. Thought it was a one-off issue but 3 days later the RHS bulb became yellowish (towards halogen temperature range) and then 3 days back it failed completely.





Have removed the bulb and disconnected the ballast from the system. Shipped the bulb to RetroRides, Delhi for replacement under warranty. Hope to get the new bulb by the coming weekend so vision is restored until then managing with a single HID + fog lights ON.



Sent off to Retro Rides, Delhi


Placing an order for the following items from TheRetrofitSource, USA:

1. AMP>D2S straight adapter x 1 pair
2. Morimoto Motoholders (D2S type) x 1 pair
3. D2S: Morimoto XB50 HID bulb (4800K) x 2 pairs

Received the new bulb today afternoon. Replacing it was a major pain due to those useless springs that hold the bulb.



Sadly Retro Rides doesn't stock the D2S Motoholders as a separate item. It comes included in the D2S 5.0 kit. Will be making a pair of stainless steel spacers which will replace the spring that will hold the bulb properly and with even pressure.

PS: Not much of a noticeable colour difference between the old and new bulb.

UPDATE: Spacer made and installed.

While browsing the HID planet forums, got to a thread that gave us this idea to replicate the same. It is easy to remove and replace bulbs. Need the straight AMP>D2S adapter now to complete the issues pending.
