Re: DIY: Upgrading the Indian EcoSport Titanium to the Global ST-Line Variant

This is an incredible thread! Great mods to a great car.
If only shipping was reasonably affordable, many more of us would be performing surgery on our dearly beloveds!

On a side note, are you saying the police actually drew their weapons at you?

Re: DIY: Upgrading the Indian EcoSport Titanium to the Global ST-Line Variant

Great work especially with the coding. Quite a bit of work to replace all the parts especially around the steering. I am sure the Ford ASC guys will lose their sleep seeing these mods being done as a DIY. I thought VW was pretty mod friendly, but looks like Ford is also almost there. And that new steering wheel looks awesome!

Re: DIY: Upgrading the Indian EcoSport Titanium to the Global ST-Line Variant

Excellent DIY Thank you so much for sharing, this tempts me to start working on our EcoSport too but I doubt my father will allow so.

Those LHD stalks look like those of VGA cars, do ford have similar styled ones in international markets? Because ours is 2013 model and though it comes with LHD type stalk controls, the design is a lot different.

Re: DIY: Upgrading the Indian EcoSport Titanium to the Global ST-Line Variant

I am a reasonably smart person, but honestly, I could not understand a thing of what is done here. The end result looks good though.

Question in general, if am not mistaken the ecosport is made in Chennai right? So why are these parts available in the UK but not India?

Re: DIY: Upgrading the Indian EcoSport Titanium to the Global ST-Line Variant

By far the best DIY's on the forum I have seen and liked. It is so complicated and you seem to have played around with it like a kid gaming on a console!

Only concern from the observation is that, these computers can be meddled with and tamper the actual ODO, isn't it

End result looks great!
We got a sense of the expenses from the links you shared. But how much effort was required for such a tricky DIY? Must have been loads.

Excellent thread. Definitely one of the best DIY threads i have read till date. The end result is awesome. Have you visited Ford service center after this DIY? If yes then please do share the reaction of their personnel towards this new/uncommon setup. Won't this setup hamper factory warranty?

Re: DIY: Upgrading the Indian EcoSport Titanium to the Global ST-Line Variant

Woah, hats off to you for doing this as DIY ! The work involved is quite complex and I think you have explained it very well which makes it seem simple. When the Ecosport facelift was launched I liked the Titanium spec the best and it was truly value for money. You have now made it even better.

All these parts are ST spec parts which aren't available in India.

My reaction too when I first read the ODO can be changed like this, however he has mentioned it can only be increased and not reduced, which takes away the risk of ODO tampering.

Wow thats some insane level of DIY. Didn't even know this type of retrofit was even possible.

You've surely done your homework.

What I'm surprised is how much features Forscan has. Is this for the PC version?

I have the mobile version and it doesn't have this much programming features. Mainly read parameters.

I have the OBD Link MX module for my Ecosport and never saw all this on the Android app of Forscan.

Here I am feeling proud just by changing wipers/putting led's in boot/cabin lights on my own and you just upgraded an entire instrument cluster and a steering wheel with hell lot of controls!

Wow, the level of DIY is amazing. One small error and it can be a complete mess but you handled like pro. Great stuff.

Do we need to have some kind of knowledge related automobiles or can it be done by any layman?

Sorry if this question is obvious, will the warranty void if we do modifications like this? In the past, I had read instances where some company failed to honor extended warranty because the owner used synthetic oil in place of the recommended oil by the manufacturer.
I would say that its better to get a service person who has good knowledge about ford cars or there are many youtube videos available, we can see that and try to implement. Thats how I did this .

And Regarding warranty my car is out of warranty now. And yes I think it might affect the warranty if it is new car.

Thanks lemedico , The cops hands almost reached to take their guns out, But i greeted them with a smiling face ,still they they took all our passports , verified it and only then allowed us to go.

Astounding, mind-blowing DIY! In fact, calling it just a DIY would be an understatement. I might go ahead to say that you might have actually created a new trim version of the ecosport, especially when you're done with adding the rest of the features you have planned ahead.
Keep going; hopefully we'll have similar threads to "upgrade" company provided baseline trims for many other mass market cars in the near future - through your inspiration.

The Mobile apps has limited set of functionalites, I would suggest you use your PC. The next release of Forscan will be as same as Ford FRDS.

Well, just goes to show that (almost) anything can be done. I'm pretty sure there would be some way of reducing the mileage (by re programming the software?) if someone wanted to.
