Nexon EV catches fire in Mumbai; Tata Motors releases official statement

Yes I was also waiting for an official response from Tata after their investigations are complete. I am thinking of buying an ev for a long time, somehow not getting the confidence. Battery revolution and life of this battery after 8 years, this fire incident etc has put a brake on my purchase decision. I keep my cars for a long long time and hence wanted to wait for a response from Tata motors on this.

Has anyone got any information on the cause of fire? I assume its high time TML conclude their investigation, as 40k+ EVs are already on road and safety is a concern. I guess govt should intervene, like how NHTSA goes after Tesla in US.

Just a bit of information, not verified.

I had visited the local TATA motors dealership (Suryoday ) for a test drive of Tigor EV, I asked the sales advisor for any update on the Nexon fire. He said that there were some hints that the wiring had some issue. He didnt go in the details but said that some wires are unprotected and ended the conversation saying that investigation is still going on.

Note: Service Advisors from Suryoday TATA were first responders during incident, the car was purchased from a Mumbai based dealer that's what the SA said.

Did Tata find something aftermarket on this one yet?

It appears that they are searching since an year.
