Literally noone bashed any of these cars for their design. As a matter of fact, they're tBHP car of the year . However people did rightfully bash the crap that was 3Xo design which is conspicously absent from your list. This BE5 concept deserves the same bashing. It looks like a 16 year old's version of a dream car design. Look at that awful hood, and the ugly DRLs. 'Once people see it in flesh they'll love it' yeah of course that's possible but we can't see it right now can we. We are commenting on what we can see - and what we can see is horrible.

Literally no one? You need to check out XUV700 and ScorpioN leaks (*literally* dozens of pages), and after that check out the Roxx thread before the official review went live.

What a weird take when this is always the rhetoric with Mahindra's recent designs which later grow on everyone. One just needs to use the search button.

Re: Mahindra BE.05 electric SUV spied for the first time

Is this designed by Pininfarina? This will compete with Curvv EV.I expect the rear space to be sufficient for tall passengers owing to more than 200mm wheelbase over the curvv. If they can price it under 25L for 80kwh variant, that will end all competition in the 20-30L segment.Common Mahindra, dazzle us!

Re: Mahindra BE.05 electric SUV spied for the first time

If this is the final production version, then in a way Mahindra is trying to do what Audi did with the TT, releasing a car which looks almost identical to the original concept. A lot of cars, especially BEVs are adopting this design language of having sharp angles across the car, with minimal curved surfaces. The wheels look similar to those on the Nissan Leaf, I'm not sure I like them.

It resembles cybertruck a bit from rear. Alleged specs look promising.

Re: Mahindra BE.05 electric SUV spied for the first time

I spotted these Mahindra test EVs in Chitradurga yesterday, the bev05 is slated to be launched Jan 25. They were traveling from Nashik to Chennai it seems. The gang scooted when they realized I was clicking pics, I was like how does it even matter the pics are all over the internet? Looking at the BeV05 and the prices being discussed in this thread (which I feel are highly optimistic for what's being offered) Mahindra is bringing in a Tommy gun to a fistfight!

On a closer look, the BE05 looks like BE RALLE variant as it has a roof carrier and round headlights which are from the RALLE version.

Good catch. It indeed seems so. Thought the RALLE was just a show pony.
Will be interesting to see this on the road.

Ford has a new trim coming up on it's Mach-E EV. It is literally called Rally with offroad tires et al.

BE05 RALLE seems to be on the same lines.

RALLE was not a show pony. Infact, Pratap Bose did commit himself that Rall.E will launch and it will be 100% similar to as shown as concept.
You may see the video here (Skip to 5:15)

Re: Mahindra BE.05 electric SUV spied for the first time

It is great to see that Mahindra is developing the cars that they showcased as concept last year.

I wanted to just remind everyone the launch timeline shared by Mahindra on 15th Aug 2023 - link to the teambhp post (Mahindra Born Electric Vision concept EVs to be unveiled on August 15, 2022)

XUV.e8 - Dec'24
XuV.e9 - Apr'25
BE.05 - Oct'25
BE.07 - Apr'26

So we can expect XUV.E8 launch for Bharat Mobility Expo. All the other models will be showcased at different levels of product development cycle.

It will be a good surprise if Mahindra leap frogs their own development plan and launch vehicles sooner than planned.

Looking at the recent sudden "leaks and news" by AutoCar, I think that Mahindra will showcase BE05 and Rall.E by November/December and launch it in Jan 2025 (also claimed in one of the Autocar article).

It's rare to see Autocar news coming out as a false news.

As I said in my previous post, it will be an amazing surprise if Mahindra leapfrogs BE.05 development over XUV.e8 and e9. The chances of this happening are bleak, reasons according to me -
  1. What happens to XUV.e8 and e9? Is XUV.e8 scrapped?
  2. No manufacturer launches cars too close to each other, there is usually 2-3 months of gap minimum between two launches. So are XUV.e8 and e9 delayed?
  3. Why would Mahindra launch their born electric vehicles before their ICE derived models?
Autocar article was based on the scoop of shoot done in Spain, I think that shoot was more for a Bharat Mobility Expo showcase video not a launch.

XUV.E8 and XUV.E9 are not ICE derived models, but full fledged EVs on Mahindra’s skateboard platform (INGLO). This is the same platform which is used in the BE models.

The only difference is the outer shell design which the XUV.E8 shares with XUV 700.

IMO it makes perfect sense to launch the BE.05 early and XUV.E8 later and based on the facelifted XUV 700 design.

1) Nothing is clear about the e.8 as of now. Chances are there that it is scrapped as Mahindra is working on too many projects as of now, and they might have to abandon ship on the e.8

2) Manufacturers can and in fact, do launch cars close to each other. Take Suzuki for example. Showcased the Jimny and the Fronx on the same day. It's a different story that the Jimny is failing to sell in volumes and that the Fronx is turning out to be a hot item, but it happens.

3) It's a "Born-Electric" vehicle. It's literally in the name. It's a car built to be an electric one. It's architecture is made to facilitate it being an EV. It's not an EV derivative of an ICE (I'm looking at you, the tata twins.) So it would make the most sense to launch the EV first and then launch It's ICE derivative some time later. Although they could play their cards a little bit like tata and launch both together, as was the case for the Curvv.

do correct me if I'm wrong anywhere.

Cheers!

A few days back I saw this on Chennai Highway, not sure if they are the same set of crew/test vehicles, the temp numbers are different though
