Earlier, Indian cars used to be shod with puny tires prompting people to upgrade to wider ones. Now a days it seems like there is a different trend towards another direction, to offer lower profile tires (more so in higher models), presumably for better high speed dynamics and/or perceived "good look" with larger alloys while trading off on ride quality in the process.
They test all variants, so without worrying about safety and dynamics, you can downsize to the size they offer in lower variants, 215/60 R17.

Regarding the 17" wheel, you can choose Creative's Hyperstyle wheels (steel wheels + wheelcap combo) or Accomplished's alloy wheels with aero inserts.

I’m doing a TD sometime next week.
I saw one video in youtube where this is possible. There is a setting which can be accessed via the infotainment system for adjusting this height.

Re: Tata Curvv EV Review

Considering buying the Curvv … not needed but just a “keeda” been bitten by the motoring bug

Test Drove Curvv EV in pouring rain and water logged conditions. It is a gem to drive like a sports car. Brilliant handling , minimal body roll but a bit harsh ride owing to the 55 section and 18 inchers. Tolerable and enjoyed.

Test drove the Nexon EV LR brilliant little package with better ride quality due to 60 sidewall and smaller wheels.

Nexon rode better and drove equally well but curvv was the looker and more premium.

Test drove the petrol mannual curvv and was disappointed by the lack of power.

Since they did not have a diesel Curvv for TD asked them for a Nexon D. Nexon diesel was better than petrol curvv assuming it is the same engine in curvv with the petrol being the newer GDI.

Nexon was mannual and not DCA but fun to drive since I have a Thar and Duster I love the torque of disels.

Now the big Q

What should I opt for ?

Range of EV is 350 -380 practically far away from 585.

Petrol is mediocre and didn’t like it at all.

I have a nexon petrol 1 st generation and the 3 pot is not very refined.

The diesel is dearer by 1.5 lacs. I have a Thar RWD and buying the Curvv because i love the looks and Thar isn’t good for highway driving leaving one tired due to the constant shaking of the body due to its small wheelbase , offroad tyres and high GC .

So @gto and other distinguished bhpians pls advise

Heart says EV but range anxiety and 20 odd lacs speak against it.

I can get a pureplus ( may be s ) as its fully loaded diesel or petrol. D preferred.

Having two cars exclusively for me should I go for petrol my daily running not much though my thar has done 29 k since feb 2023 mostly due to me driving it out of love.

Can we charge EVs with a portable genset silly as it may sound but the 500 L boot space helps or can we get some after market battery pack.

Companies should come with extra battery packs now that we have V2V charging enabled.

Fast chargers have their own horror stories not working or occupied. Most dealers themselves have single chargers at their dealerships.

So while in city it is not a problem mostly i will be commuting from Agra to Delhi or Agra to LKo or Varanasi with a stop over in Lko

Sometimes Agra to Jaipur

Diesel will give better mileage but it is EV I want.

Should I wait for the Sierra … its an itch not a need.

Thanks for the patience. Sorry for typos

Re: Tata Curvv EV Review

People keep saying that 17 inch wheels provide better comfort compared to 18 inch wheels and I think the larger wheels cost more so why is it that the top model comes with larger wheels? What is the USP of larger wheels if they cost more and make the ride stiffer?

I am planning to get the top model and if larger wheels only make the car look better (marginally), can I ask dealership to replace the brand new car with 17 inch wheels and get some refund?

Purely looks and the thinner side profile improves handling on high speeds

So while they are good for sports cars our potholed roads , speed limits plus power available in most cars 120-150 bhp don't justify them

In most discussions for the Thar and other off-road vehicles learned people have suggested downsizing rim size and increasing sidewall thickness

Curvv is a crossover with High GC so bigger sidewalls should be better.

In my own TD the EV with 18 inchers and 55 sidewall one could feel undulations but the Nexon with 60 sidewall one just glides

The base curvv with 65 will be better riding IMHO

Its all personal at the end of the Day … Guys in Delhi Punjab will swap 20 inchers on Day 1

Re: Tata Curvv EV Review

After good amount of TD, booked the Curvv EV Emp/+A/55.

Moving from ICE to EV, it was a unusual experience with all the power available instantly.

Yes the car isn't a straightaway winner, esp with some of the just usual Tata things, but comfortably checks most of the boxes for our use case & need for next 2-3 years :

- 2 Adults + 1 kid in the rear
- 2K KMs per month
- Safe & stable
- Good boot space
- within 25L OTR
- expected delivery in 4-6 weeks

Any of our members in booking/delivery stages, would love to hear experiences.

~best!

Re: Tata Curvv EV Review

Seemingly, Tata has RTO approval only for the Top-end model, and the Curvv Accomplished + S 55kwh, which the dealership has received, cannot be taken for RTO approval yet. Is the approval model-wise? I am a bit confused. Please help with your input on how long such approvals take and whether I should transfer the amount before the approval.

The same issue is present in the Ciaz whose roofline slopes sharply in a downward curve at the rear. And the same in the Citroen Basalt.
Quoting myself.
I went and checked the Curvv this evening. Both the ICE and EV Versions.
Its interiors and all are really good and feels nice and plush. Again like the Basalt it has a vast and cavernous Skoda-esque Boot.
But the headroom at rear is terrible for a person like me who is 6 ft 2 inches tall. Also the driver seat lacks under thigh support.

However, all things considered the newer Tata vehicles fit and finish and all is miles above the earlier generations.

This story looks fishy. May be they (the vendor) want to push you to take the top end model so put your foot down and tell them you will go to a vendor who will get the model you want.

I noticed that you are coimbatore based. You can checkout with the Palakkad dealers if you want.

Re: Tata Curvv EV Review

Hi, sharing my thoughts on the driving range with home charging cost (at various per unit charges) and also highway (or city) public charging cost (at various per KW cost) for general awareness.

The attached sheet also captured estimate of Petrol AT SUV per km cost and also Hybrid SUV per km cost for comparison purpose.

The EV driving range may not be 100% accurate, however, this is the closest of the reported range by various range test drive reports (actual product yet to be delivered to public).

Hello sir, the variant you drove was the 1.2 revotron or the GDI?

Re: Tata Curvv EV Review

Do we know if deliveries have started in Bangalore yet ? I haven't seen any on the roads yet.
I was told a wait time of 3-4 weeks, but the dealer (Adishakti) hasn't received the car yet from Tata.
I see deliveries happening across many other states.

Also, would love to have recommendations on the insurance. Dealer is suggesting - Liberty or Iffco Tokyo (not their own Tata AIG), with significant discounts.

Yes, the deliveries are happening. I saw one on the road last week on Richmond circle flyover and 2 deliveries on Vijay Dashami at Kropex motors.

The TATA Curvv.EV has earned 5-Star Safety Ratings in both Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and Child Occupant Protection (COP) in the latest Bharat NCAP crash tests.

Re: Tata Curvv EV Review

Yes, did get to see a few on the road. White, Red and one Virtual Sunrise.
At this point definitely gets differentiated in the crowd. Given the booking volumes , there will be a point where it will be more common sight!!
