Sorry, too big. Please make sure either the image fits within the browser or post the thumbprint. I am viewing via 19 inch screen and I could see only half the image.

Hey guys, I got a new cam yesterday.... Sony Cyber-shot DCS-W30 , here is the review http://www.dpreview.com/news/0602/06...sonydscw30.asp . Well I was gonna buy the Canon Powershot A530 , thanx to Shantanu for helping me decide. My Dad surprised me and gifted me this sony cam frm Kuwait, and I was shocked and amazed. Was busy playing around with the cam till late night I am no pro but tried some new stuff using "Macro" mode, luv that. Guys please help me get some nice newbie tips. Here is a dose of my photography skills so far.... (Uploaded them all as thumbnails for easy viewing)

This is the pic of a "TWIX" Chocolate bar....

My First Macro mode shot, of the bar code of the Camera Box.....

My RC Car front headlamp....

My RC Car rear tail light....

Ganesh idol.....

Kept an empty Sprite bottle on top of the table and shot its cap, looks nice but I donno how the background turned all black....

A Rs.5 Coin on my Dining Table ........

A small table clock, size of a wrist dail....(2 shots)

Guys now I need to buy a "Sony Memory stick Duo", cud u suggest me if I shud go for 512MB or anything else and how much would it cost me???? I wudnt take videos at all. And I did not get a pouch or Cam carry kit with the box so I gotta buy one, cud u help me decide on that carry cover too plz!!! Gotta buy these tomorrow so plz hurry! And BTW comment on those first few pics

Well, maybe it is his way of sweetening the bitter pill (no car for you, instead have this cam).

Congrats on your new camera, but you can't really learn photography on this camera. This camera has only two modes, auto and scenes (more auto). In other words, camera makes all the decisions, at the most you can do some exposure compensation. This is basically a snap shooter. Only thing you can really control here is composition.

good start furious.

and that W800 pic looks good in thumbnail mode. Too grainy and it wasnt focussed to an object when you took it.

Should have avoided the bushes on the right, otherwise a good effort.

This is from last weekend's drive to North Madras (till Ennore).
When I was framing this shot, I missed not having more than 3x zoom on my cam. But the way it came out, I guess if I had more zoom, I might have spoiled the frame.

My first few efforts, from my first cam, probably the only guy on the forum who owns a Kodak, the C663.
