Looks like it is similar to the one I bought in 2008, which is working out great.

In March 1999 when I got a big tax refund in NJ, I bought a treadmill for $1800. After seeing our treadmill, a week later my uncle in NY also bought the same model. I used mine for 5 years without any service or repair. Then I sold it to my boss for $1000 before coming back to India. Last week I got to see both treadmills, still working perfectly. While my uncle's treadmill needed couple service calls after a decade of use, my boss's treadmill has been working relentlessly for 13 years without any service or repair. This one is used by all four family members, all fitness freaks. I am simply amazed how something can work for ever without any maintenance. The ones in India are supposed to be serviced every 3 months.

Here are couple of pics I took today of the super-resilient treadmill from 1999.

Hi GTO,

How much did it cost if it can be disclosed :D

Do they ship and deliver to non-metro cities, any contact person you know ?

Yeah, they ship to anywhere. Mine was delivered to Manipal, they even come for service if you pay for the bus charges.

Talk about quality!

I'm very particular about the service intervals (every 3 months) and lubricating the running board (every fortnight).

Got it for just <70K as it was being replaced by a newer model. I don't think they have stock of the older model anymore; this is the next gen.

Hi everyone- todays hectic lifestyle leaves little time for people to go to the gym and workout. I am one such example. Thought that i would share information on some amazing home fitnesss products that will help people to work out and tone thier bodies. Came across this site www.magichomegym.com - they have a few interesting home gyms that are compact and one can perform the entire range of workouts. Have a look.

I had bought a very professional treadmill, Stex 7520T, for my home use couple of years back. I checked many options but didn't find anything good. and was also warned by gym trainers and fitness guys that a cheap treadmill can harm you more rather than doing any good as it can damage your knees. Specially if you are overweight, which unfortunately I am. Had seen a few examples of knee problem too due to hard and cheap treadmill. So didn't want to take chance and got a premium treadmill.

I had used Stex's earlier model in gym for quite sometime and found it to be really good. Its a very successful model and used by lots of Bollywood folks too.

But main thing.. I haven't used it much yet and its mostly in covers... Yeah thats sad and depressing... But hopefully i will soon make full use of it..

Now newer model of stex is also launched i guess. This thing is very good and even though pretty expensive, worth it as its kinda one time expense as these things usually go on for more than a decade easily. Service guys said "yeh toh kamse kam 10-15 saal chalega"

So yeah overall I am happy with it but not yet happy with myself as haven't yet fully utilised it. :Frustrati lol:

At the frequency it is being used, it may even go for 50 years lol:. Just kidding, probably the sales guys know the facts and are able to make claims like that.

Went through the pages, but I couldn't see the two treadmills listed below.

Sole F 80 Treadmill
http://www.healthkart.com/product/so...tion=(1,%2016)

Life Span TR-1200 I
http://www.healthkart.com/product/li...tion=(1,%2017)

Both of these are from Healthkart.com. I have bought a weight machine from them earlier, so I think they are reliable even though they are slow in shipping.

Both of the above treadmills are also sold by Amazon.com and seem to have good reviews. However I am worried about the servicing for these as all these gym equipment seem to require regular servicing.

My budget is between 50K to a lakh. I am open to other ideas also. Would prefer one with a heart rate monitor though as I got used to it when I used to run earlier.

Thanks!

I have been using a BH Fitness Treadmill for the past 3 years, its been serving me pretty well. I bought it from Acme fitness. I would suggest you to have a look at their range, you have a very good budget there were some models around 80K at that time with nice features.

Just found this link might be useful

Thanks for the quick reply! Will check on BH treadmills, they seem to have a showroom in Bangalore.

EDIT: Just checked the location, it is right next to my house :)

This Thread has been lying idle for sometime, time to wake this up.

So my old Treadmill (Toppro - been using it from 2006) conked last month - Our repairmen cant fix it, and the supplies are unavailable. I am looking at replacing it with a reliable new one.

Been looking at this thread and looks like HomeFitnessDirect is popular. My wife and I are regular users of the treadmill. I use it 3 days a week and my wife uses it for 5 days a week. We would need something thats reliable, will last a long time and reasonably quite.

I am considering between PL 459 and PT 360 - both are priced at 40K. I have considered an elliptical as well - a change since we have been using treadmill for 7 years now.

Looking for recommendations. Thanks in Advance!

Howdy folks!

Need some advice regarding purchasing a treadmill for me and my wife.
We've put on some weight recently, thanks to holidays and office parties and marriage receptions and many other social outings.
We have thought about joining a gym, but it might not be feasible due to time constraints and office commitments.

So we have been wondering about getting a treadmill to use at home.
Based on inputs from this thread, we have decided to get something within 30k.
Any recommendations? So far, we have checked online and found the following:

1. 058 - Motorized Treadmill - HomeFitnessDirect
2. PL 279 - Motorized Treadmill - HomeFitnessDirect
3. ISO Solid T4 Treadmill

Any suggestions on what would be a good buy?
I'm not keen on getting any thing online, so we will be checking out some shops that sell treadmills over the coming weekend.

Our usage wont be more than 1 hour per day, a maximum of 5 days in a week. Just basic walking and jogging.
The idea behind getting the treadmill is to lose the few inches of flab, drop a few kilos. That's all.
We checked out surrounding areas near our house, but didn't find any place worth going to for jogging/walking.
Streets are way too crowded and polluted to consider jogging at any time of the day.

Thanks for checking this query, fellas. Cheers!

Guys
I'm planning to invest in a mechanised treadmill for home use and need your advice
The objective is to use it for both brisk walking ( serve as cardio ) and jogging for some amount of weight loss ( have some flab around the waist to get rid off. Otherwise I'm 66kgs and 175cms ). It will be used by my wife and my son as well.

Which is a good recommended brand, model ? My budget is limited to 15-20k now. Based on a brief internet search I did, I guess I can only get a used machine for this budget. Pls advice the do's and don't's if I were to go for such an option

Thanks

Hi Folks!

It's my father's birthday coming up and I would like to give him an elliptical or an exercise bike (Leaning towards an elliptical as they are a better option) to replace his very very old Hero Allegro as a birthday present. Catch is that I am not living in India anymore so I can't really go and check equipment out in stores - I'll probably order it off Snapdeal, eBay or Healthkart, etc. My budget is between 25k to 35k. Now I have only used Life Fitness equipment in gyms before but I know that can get very very expensive, especially in India. Could someone recommend some good, solid brands and models at this price - If it's an elliptical, I would prefer it be a bit sturdy as I have noticed that the ultra cheap ones can tend to rock quite a bit. My father is probably around 80 kgs.

Some basic research threw up these models, but I am not sure of quality / brand:

- BH Athlon Program Elliptical Trainers - Rs. 27k

- Pro Bodyline Heavy Duty Elliptical Trainer 711 - Rs. 32k

- Fuel 4.0 Elliptical - Rs. 27k

- Propel Fitness Magnetic Elliptical Trainer - Rs. 29k

- Lifeline Magnetic Elliptical Trainer - Rs. 24k

If it has to be a bike (Is recumbent better if he has a bad back?):

- BH Onyx Program Cycle Exercise Bikes - Rs. 26k

- Fuel 4.0 Recumbent Bike - Rs. 29k

- Propel Fitness Recumbent Magnetic Bike HR67 - Rs. 26k

- Pro Bodyline Recumbent - Rs. 18k

Thanks for your help!

Cheers,
V

Here Craigslist is your friend. Expats returning to west sell equipment at throwaway prices. I just acquired a Horizon with cushioned track for 20k. MRPed at 1,20,000. Apparently, globally people do this. People buy 2000USD units and leave them lying unused. Bargains ate found for 2 to 3 hundred dollars!
