Second that. But when I play that today, the graphics and the experience seem a little old world. You should try Grid 2. Its probably the best road racing game that I have played in the last few years

The graphics can't compete (the game's a decade+ old), but the game-play blows a lot of current games out of the water in terms of involvement.

I haven't been able to give any decent time to games recently. 12+ hours on the office laptop leaves no energy to play games.

I'll check out Grid 2 sometime, thanks!

re: PC & Console games - Discussion Thread

Have played the following games on my Xbox 360 recently:

Bioshock Evolution : Great game with a nice story and characters. Although it is more of a linear game play and not completely open world.

Batman Arkham City: One of the best games I have played in recent times. Great story, great voice acting, good game play, although the Riddler's challenges are a bit too time taking.

AC III : Great graphics and good story, but not as much fun as the AC II games. But the naval missions are a lot of fun and the world looks gorgeous. The fighting mechanics have been simplified too much when compared to AC II, so it is very easy to play and not challenging enough.

I'm waiting to reach 100% completion on AC III and Batman before starting on my next game : Red Dead Redemption, of which I have heard some great things.

Guys, I am not sure I have posted this here before. From years back, I've played this game - made in Flash that is so addictive, so well made. Its the N game. Basically its a Ninja who has finish a maze that he is locked in by pressing certain triggers to open a door through which he can escape. In all this time he is either chased by intelligent or dumd assassins and other inanimate objects like mines etc. Amazing good fun - and the best part is that they had released a new version early this year. This new version gives you the option to save your progress as you finish various levels. Check it out. You'll not be bored at all!

re: PC & Console games - Discussion Thread

During the PC era I loved playing NFS Porsche unleashed and IGI (I'm going In).

Then came the PS3 and enjoyed GTA all versions but it became a time consuming affair! Currently I am addicted to COD Black ops's and on weekends I am buzzing a few players on Team Deathmatch! If any players of COD my ID's the same as here!

Six months back, I bought PS2 for my son though its bit outdated. Good enough for 6 year olds.
Enjoy playing the following game - GT4. nice car racing game. Nice graphics and enjoyable split screen 2 player mode.

Got free games along with the PS2.
1) Rayman - simple game, good for kids
2) Street cricket - the graphics sucks, but funny when played with young kids.

AC4 is built on the whole naval concept. combines open world features (like skyrim) and the graphics look good. waiting to get my hands on it.

Also, a good place to ask this. Am planning to buy into a platform (XBox, PS or Wii) and am contemplating them. Or should I wait for the PS4?

Good news for sim lovers and fans of the GT franchise!

Announcing the Partnership Between Gran Turismo®6 and the Ayrton Senna Institute

PC & Console games - Discussion Thread-i1ct8qp7xwa7ouh.jpg

In the PlayStation® exclusive title "Gran Turismo®6", out on 6 December 2013, content involving Brazil's legendary racing driver Ayrton Senna will be distributed through a series of online updates, allowing players to follow in Ayrton's racing career footsteps.

“For us, it’s very special to have Ayrton as the main highlight of Gran Turismo®6. It represents all the successes that Brazil accomplished far beyond the sport scene. It's the Brazilian spirit of persevering through the challenges, and the victories achieved through great efforts. Ayrton also represents the creative intelligence, the courage and the solidarity shared amongst friends and rivals. These are values that we Brazilians cultivate and saw represented in the figure of that champion, who was also known to apply a meticulous technique in whatever he was doing," said Viviane Senna, the sister of the late triple champion and president of the Instituto Ayrton Senna.

What kind of games do you generally play? RPG, action-adventure, FPS, third-person, stealth, hack-n-slash, interactive drama, racing, sports, rhythm action etc. are some of the broad genres that fall into the gaming scene.

The PS3 has a solid collection of very good exclusive titles and the X360 barely has a select few, most of them have now been ported to the PC (aka timed exclusives). Some of them from the PS2 have also been remastered with HD visuals for the PS3 so that those who had previously missed out on the PS2 and its titles could play the same titles with enhanced visuals for the PS3. Eg. God of War and GoW II (which were originally out on the PS2) were remastered before GoW III was out so newer players could get a grip of the storyline before attempting the sequel. Same goes for Killzone 2 and 3.

The X360 OTOH, barely has a few popular exclusive titles to go with it - Gears of War 2 and 3, the Halo series (barring the first 2 entries), Project Gotham Racing 2 and 3 and the Forza series. But the Kinect is a worthy accessory in case you'd want to burn some calories at your home and have fun at the same time. Some titles such as the Dance Central series, Just Dance series, Kinect Sports series etc. are extremely fun to play esp. with a bunch of friends. You need not be a Prabhu Deva to mimic those dance steps indicated on the display, you will enjoy it regardless!

But that is, if you like these titles. If you are one of those types who prefers holding a controller in the hand and relaxing on the couch (like me), I'd recommend a PS3 to you. The PS4 launch in India has not been very clear as yet and speculations and rumours aside, we can at best hope for the launch next year during Feb-March if not earlier. There are plenty of titles for the PS3 which will keep you occupied until then, prepare yourself for the PS4 when it arrives (several titles for the PS4 are going to be sequels from the PS3 - Killzone: Shadowfall, Infamous: Second Son etc). Some of the best selling PS3 titles are selling as low-priced Platinum editions. Same content - low price!

Feel free to ask anything in this regard, I'd be glad to help!

Well, I play RPGs like D3, First person shooters like Max Payne 3, bit of racing and stuff like Far Cry 3 - will I be too old if I say I've played the first versions of these games too

Ok, so it is still worth it to purchase a second-hand PS3? What about the different options (like the 16GB, 32GB) - how does that make a difference?

Not at all! I've played them back when I was a kid.

But looks like you messed up the genres there! D3 (if you meant Doom 3 there or did you mean Diablo 3?) wasn't an RPG but a FPS, Max Payne 3 isn't a FPS but a third-person shooter. Far Cry 3 is an FPS again. Dragon Age, Mass Effect, The Elder Scrolls, The Witcher etc. are RPG series - apart from the main quest, the protagonist is tasked with carrying out side quests like fetch, loot, kill etc. and he/she's rewarded by the NPCs. RPGs inevitably take the most time for completion since the players are pulled into the game and they begin doing endless quests! Skyrim for instance, I put in 105 hours over a month before I called it quits and finished the title - the other titles were being backlogged!

Anyhow looks like you are into FPS, TPS and action-adventure titles so grab a PS3. And start with the Uncharted series. There are 3 titles in this series and it will give you a good start. The second title is kick-ass! Pick up Heavy Rain next and the Resistance series after that.

Of course. Many players who're done with all the titles (the last title for the PS3 came some time back - Beyond: Two Souls) sell off their consoles. It is a good time to grab that. The older slim models come with a 2.5" hard drive (found inside laptops) inside the console so it lets you install many games at a time. Some games occupy a few KBs whereas some others in GBs. However, once you are through with a game, you can uninstall the data if you do not intend to play that game anymore. So a 16GB console is more than sufficient in this case. Else opt for the 32GB model. Check second-hand markets for the older hard drive based models - the slim ones in particular.
