I'm using the Home 3300 plan on BSNL's DataOne...
1mbit/sec, ~ 100KB/sec download speed... 10GB Data limit per month, 2am to 8am free download... me and my cousin are sharing this connection through out private LAN, which has an overhead UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair) cat5 cable connecting both out buildings, and its working perfectly..

P.S. We're using 16GB per month, including the free nite downloads..

cheers!
Shrivz...

Off topic: Are there any cable internet providers in Bangalore? I am returning to Blr in a couple of months and i have a cable modem that i need to decide whether to get back or dispose it here (in US).

EDIT: OOPS: I just noticed that i replied to a 2005 thread!!! The above question still holds though!

Yes, Hathway and Sify offer broadband on Cable.
Highly pathetic service from both.

You can seriously rely on BSNL and Airtel for broadband in Bangalore.

Unlimited download plans offer you fixed amount every month/year.

Its not linked to how much bandwidth you consume.
Very useful if you use peer to peer or streaming audio / videos on almost daily basis.

Thanks guys.
Will check up how DSL plans look like before giving up my cable modem.
Also, BSNL phones also have toll free access to toll free numbers, which are helpful to me when taking office calls. I don't think airtel/vodafone allow toll free access, do they?

I have MTNL for last 2-3 years. Before that I had TATA-VSNL. That was a horrifying experience here in Rohini, Delhi at least.
