I bought this used Canon EOS 10D recently, Guys how do u rate this cam?

Hmm 6MP sensor. Decent AF, excellent image quality. What price? If you got it for 10000rs or less, its a good deal

As for ebay filters, I suggest if you do have to buy, buy from the chinese dealers(with good feedback rating). I have often bought stuff worth upto 1500-2000rs, and it arrives within 20 days without custom issues.
They are more prompt and professional than smartshoppers any day!

Tanveer do you have any feedback on Messa filters ( CPL and ND) available on dealextreme and ebay ? How good they are ?

I would suggest do not use a CPL from Massa. ND is still fine, if you would use it for waterfalls, but a cheap CPL will degrade quality.
Buy a Hoya instead from a good dealer, it will cost around 1500rs for 58mm.
Alternatively get one from Amazon for 30-40$ with 4.99$ shipping. For such cheap items, customs does not bother at all!

i bought it for 12k with battery+charger, Video & USB cable, Eye cup, Camera Cover, 4gb Extreme 3 CF card, original bill+manual+CD and all other documents. camera is in very beautiful condition, used occasionally by a Doctor.

Does anyone know if the Canon 1000D comes with IS lens or even as an option?

I think you can add any IS lens to your Canon 1000D.

Has both option kit IIRC. 4k-5k difference between the two.

No the 1000D Kit being sold in India is without IS. You need to pay the differential amount 3-5K for the IS lens.

You have to buy the camera with the non-IS lens and then purchase the IS lens separately. The seller may take the non-IS lens back and ony charge you the difference. Cannon India won't do it. I spoke to the marketing head of western region and he told me this.

Tanveer, sad to hear that, I lost count on the days. When did you make the payment ?
========
Please comment if someone has similar filters.

Rather than spending Rs.850 on these, get few magnifying glasses with diameter that fits your lens and use clear tape to put them there. It would give you much better macro capability ;)

@Karthik, how much did you pay?
I am wondering how much would my 5D fetch if I want to swap it with one of these new generation DSLRs.

Raj, are they not same as close up filters ? I really dont know, but someone told me close-up filter is a piece of magnifying glass itself, conveniently built with various thread sizes so that you can just screw it on the lens.

One of my friend (non t-bhp member) wants to buy a DSLR and stort-listed 2 models i.e. 550D and 50D. He basically wants to use the same for mostly portraits, landscapes and maybe some night photography. Though 550D has clear advantage in terms of pixels, metering and HD video recording, yet 50D is considered better in terms of ISO performance and still photography.
He is bit confuse in choosing the better equipment as budget is not constraint (due to similar pricing).
Please advice.
Thanks
