Also, are these cheap remotes and the like available in Singapore and Malaysia over the counter? Any pointers to stores?

Here's the ebay link to the same product from the same seller:

IR Remote Control for NIKON D5000 D3000 D90 D60+ ML-L3 - eBay (item 190381609839 end time Aug-14-10 21:05:21 PDT)

Its not a Nikon product but at $3.25+ free worldwide shipping, I think I can use it for couple of years without any hassles.
The product looks neat and it works well with my D80.:)

@tsk: Sorry if I misunderstood above comment, you talking about 50mm right?

I am planning to buy Tokina AF 11-16mm/2.8 for wide angle. Its a bit costly 645 EUR. Before spending this amount I have to check if it is really worth for this amount.

I already placed an order for this lens, I will receive it tomorrow.

I need suggestion for a bag to carry atleast 4 lenses? I search on internet but all of them were camera + lens bags and they are backpack. I want to carry them like a belly pouch. Please suggest.

Have you checked Kata bags? They make one of the finest SLR Camera bags which are stitched very model specific.

You could search their stuff on:

www.kata-bags.com

This is how my D80 Kata bag looks, its called DH-423:

Pawan,
I've recently got Lowepro vertex 100 AW and it fits all the following things in it (Though I wouldn't carry them all at the same time if I'm out all day walking with it).

1) Canon 5d Mark II
2) Canon 70-200mm 2.8 IS
3) Canon 24-105mm IS
4) Canon 50mm 1.8
5) A Camcoder
6) Canon Xsi with 18-55mm kit lens
7) Any 15 inch laptop

Chargers, cables and memory cards for the above.

It has served me well during my trip last month since I was able to carry all that gear in the name of laptop bag in airliner since it doesn't count :Das 1 allowed carry on bag. It took lot of beating in my jungle safari's at Pench and road travels very well.

Here is the Amazon URL

Amazon.com: Lowepro Vertex 100 AW Camera/Laptop Backpack: Electronics

Another and probably better(I'm told) alternative would be Kata R 103.

Good luck

You wouldn't regret one bit of your decision buying this lens. Have used it for about 4/5 trips and was satisfied with its sharpness. Just uploading 2 shots.

Riju, lovely shots, please dont post more. It will be very tough to control my instincts to get one before I have planned to :).

Anyway, Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 EX DG APO Macro HSM II could be in my bag on Saturday. Eventually I have chosen the 'budget way' to go ahead, ignoring the Nikon VRII. Drive to Chennai this weekend will have multi-targets as of now. Thanks to everyone whoever has given a tip or two about the choices. It really helped. Will update more about it on Monday. :thumbs up

Here is the lens:

How much does Tokina AF 11-16mm/2.8 costs in Bangalore ? I had zeroed on Sigma 10-20mm F3.5 EX DC HSM over the Tokina AF 11-16mm/2.8. Guru's any suggestions to which i should go ?

I am also planning to buy Tokina 11-16, I did compare it with Sigma 10-20mm on net, Tokina 11-16 is much better than Sigma.

Pawan, few of the reviews recommend Sigma 10-20mm F3.5 EX DC HSM over Tokina 11-16mm f2.8

There are two options in Sigma

1. Sigma 10-20mm F3.5 EX DC HSM
2. Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM

Thank you, asif. Let me go ahead and check on the ebay options.

Shaju,
Cool. My suggestion, get the lens as soon you get there and then roam around the city and explore the new lens :).

It's out of stock at most places, but Jayesh has one piece (Canon mount). You may want to check with him. It should cost about 26-28k.

Here's the detailed review on Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM Lens:

Its a great value for money compared to Tokina 10-16 f2.8 and ofcourse the much longer focal range will surely help in less lens interchange:

:OT Are we allowed to carry one extra bag other than our laptop bags? I was of the impression that only one bag laptop or not is allowed.

The Canon 10-22 is a far better lens and not that much more than a Tokina besides the Canon will hold value far better.

Some moons back I also debated about teh Tokina 11-16 impressed by it's fixed f/2.8 spec and da-ol'-man (Rudra-da) advised me to try the Canon in the real world. Canon won.

One bag. If you are carrying a large camera bag they are not obliged to allow you a second bag though most airlines do bend a bit.

Vertex 100AW is only to carry camera and gears. I wanted to carry my other stuff like one pair of cloth, towel etc, as well. So, I have decided to buy Lowepro fastpack 200. It has space to carry DSLR with lens and atleast 3 extra lens and I can carry my stuff.

f2.8 is the advange where it will allow me to get the low light shot.

Depends on which airlines you are traveling, assumed that you travelling in cattle class (errrr economy class).

Most European airlines allow you to carry 1 laptop bag in addition to 1 carry on, however more than one, na da!. With air France policies change. As per rule its only 1 bag. But from India they allow more than one. However from Europe they insist on only one, but can be argued.

Emirates (:Frustrati) doesn't allow any additional bag (1 bag includes laptop bag )! Over that they are very strict about 7kg limits in carry on! So if you have laptop, pretty much nothing else you can carry on!You can however pay $50 to carry extra bag! Which too depends on what time you check-in!
