Yes I was thinking of the same thing, because I will get 24 hours to play with the new lens to find any front focus or rear focus issues that are reported in many forums. We will be missing your smiling face throughout :), Anil will tag along.

It's out of stock at most places, but Jayesh has one piece (Canon mount). You may want to check with him. It should cost about 26-28k.

Thanks HellwratH, BTW Which do you suggest?

I need one for Nikon Mount, few days back when i had inquired he said 31k for Sigma 10-20mm F3.5 fixed.

I don't know about the Tokina.

Its a great value for money compared to Tokina 10-16 f2.8 and ofcourse the much longer focal range will surely help in less lens interchange:

Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 EX DC HSM Lens Review: 4. Conclusion & samples: Digital Photography Review

Thanks asif for the review link. I have zeroed on Sigma 10-20mm F3.5 EX DC HSM & Tokina 10-16 f2.8. So i am not keen on Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 EX DC HSM though its 4k lesser.

The Canon 10-22 is a far better lens and not that much more than a Tokina besides the Canon will hold value far better.

Some moons back I also debated about teh Tokina 11-16 impressed by it's fixed f/2.8 spec and da-ol'-man (Rudra-da) advised me to try the Canon in the real world. Canon won.

I am looking out for Nikon Mount.

agree: Canon 10-22 lens is better.

Rudra Sir any help ?

Strictly by rule only one peace of cabin baggage with in specified dimensions weighing up to 7 Kg.

Usually Indian carriers (Jet , AI , Kingfisher) are most lenient , Also Lufthansa, United , BA are lenient in allowing 1 Laptop + 1 cabin bag and do not insist on weighing the cabin bag as long as it is not very large.

East Asian Airlines ( ANA , Korean Air , Asiana , JAL) are most stingy in my experience.

Anyway, Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 EX DG APO Macro HSM II could be in my bag on Saturday. Eventually I have chosen the 'budget way' to go ahead, ignoring the Nikon VRII. Drive to Chennai this weekend will have multi-targets as of now. Thanks to everyone whoever has given a tip or two about the choices. It really helped. Will update more about it on Monday. :thumbs up

Here is the lens:

Too many bad copies available in the market. Mount it on your camera, run a thorough test and only then pay for one.

I hardly shoot Wide, hardly as in have tried it only 4-5 times. I love that lens, it's amazing. But yes, as Navin suggeted Canon is a better deal.

Its quoted 38k few days back (Sathya, Chennai), but looks like prices are gone slightly higher, will try to get it for the same what was quoted to me.

My choice of UWA is the Sigma 10-20 f/3.5 without doubt, considering the crop factor of a DX body. Had gone through too many user reviews on Tokina, Tamron, Sigma UWA versions. As of now, I should be more than happy with my 18-50 for all my similar experiments. I haven't got any special interest for landscapes so far. So better stick to bugs, flower and flies :).

If anybody wants to go really wide, Sigma has launched a new lens 8-16mm 8-16mm F4.5-5.6 DC HSM - Wide Angle Zoom Lenses - SigmaPhoto.com

Smartshoppers has listed it for 30k, so we can expect a max 2k lower at our favorite sellers, but it varies each day, dollar fluctuation given as a regular reason.

I was on airplane to India about a month ago and last week within US. In both cases they did not count this backpack with laptop as 1 carry on which is allowed. On one instance I did not have laptop in this bag and they counted it as a carry on. That's why I carry a small tablet in it :)
In any case airlines are coming up with creative ideas to charge passengers so please check before you fly.

Is the 3N1-33 available in India? I was planning to pick it from Singapore or Malaysia when I travel but if they are available in India, I'd pick it up right away.

Edit: Found a dealer in India, but the price difference is quite high when compared to amazon or south east asia price of ~$150
