However, I have only two options mentioned earlier ;

Canon 550D/t2i (18-55) + 75-300 = 849$
OR
Canon 550D/t2i (18-55) + 55-250 = 939$

Am I missing some thing. Amazon lists 550D + 18-55 Kit for 849.

Amazon.com: Canon EOS Rebel T2i 18 MP CMOS APS-C Digital SLR Camera with 3.0-Inch LCD and EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens: Camera & Photo

The post above says it also includes a 75-300!
Who is the seller?

Adorama, B&H and Amazon are some of the safe choices.

Thats how I hold it :). Anyways just got the lens yesterday and I'm still coming to terms with the weight of the lens. I guess it will improve in a few days.

True! My wife does that.

Add Newegg to the list as I had very good experience with them. And with amazon make sure you buy direct from amazon and not the market place. I had a very bad experience ordering a watch from them.

Guys, what would be a good price for a Nikon 55-200, about 8 months old? Invoice is not available. (no warranty!)

New ones retail for about 11-12k

Thanks everyone for response on the memory card query. I purchased the below from Jayesh today. Decent deal, took my time to check and select.

1)Vanguard sling bag (1-2Body, 2-4lens, accessories) - 3400 (MRP 3975)
2)Panasonic 4GB Class 4 SDHC (Made in Japan) - 450 (MRP 850)
3)Sonia Lens reversal adapter for 52mm - 400
4)Sonia plastic flower hood for 52mm - 150
5)Scratchguard for LCD - 299 (with a free lens cleaning solution and wipe cloth)

If you dont have invoice then how do you establish that its only 8 months old. Anyways, it all depends on the bargaining. If the lens is as good as new, it should be around 7-8k.

TaureanBull, I know its only 8 months old coz it belongs to a friend, he got it from US in Feb this year. Somehow can't seem to find the bill now! So..

Thanks for the figure though! Lenses seem to depreciate rather slowly then!

Had been to the Canon class yesterday. Good intro, but many topics were already known. Hence for non-techies it works very well.

Playing around with various ISO settings. But still the big one remains:
Aperture and shutter speed. Need to get a feel for numbers in this territory.

Any suggestions?

Congrats. Can you post one picture of this item? Sounds reasonably priced. Is it waterproof?

As such the bag is too big for me, looks empty after keeping all my accesories and cam. May be once I aquire the telephoto lens, it would make sense to start using :)

Exactly. Right handed shooters should lock their left arm under the lens and against their body (torso). Now the right hand can depress the shutter with less shake.

The guys at the canon class suggested a Sony tripod for a budget under 2K. :)

A Vivitar tripod, the biggest one which costs 1400 INR is heavier and sturdier than the flimsy 1600rs Sony tripod. I would take their suggestions with a pinch of salt
