I do not have any idea about the pricing of this model.
Is it wise to buy this now when considering the new model D5200 is announced (not sure whether we can expect any price cut in future).
However I will not go for 5200 as I am pretty happy with D5100. Only confusion is in price.
Please help.
As far as I'm given to understand, the D5200 has flash commander capability (not sure about this though). If that's so and you're certain you will want to develop your strobist skills (and are willing to make those purchases when you do), the 5200 might be worth it if it can be had for between 45-50 because a commander adapter on the D5100 itself can be around 10k. If people know about cheaper yet reliable wireless flash adapters, I'd be happy to hear.

Re: The DSLR Thread

I have a D3000 with no flash commander capability. A friend suggested the cowboy studio flash trigger unit. I have been using it for an year and quite satisfied with the results. I'm not sure if they are compatible with speedlites though.

The build quality is so-so yet it met my expectations given the price. I added yongnuo's instead of Nikon speedlites since I was going full manual with my setup.

there is a good sale happening on the D5100 , this is for a refurb with 90 day warranty... http://www.adorama.com/INKD5100R.htm...ce=rflaid62905

I buy regularly from this vendor and they are amongst the best in the camera business. Nikon refurbs are worth buying as they are as good as new.

Nikon via Adorama and Cameta have been having some great deals on lens and I have been stocking Prime and Non Prime lens.

My must have software is Photoshop Elements, Photomatix and Topaz Detail. Of course, open source options like GIMP with FX Foundry and Luminance are available too.
Try UFRaw for raw processing.Apart from other features It has options for lens geometry correction which you can manually tweak and also presets for 3ed party lenses so quite helpful for sigma 10-20 users as data for fisheye/sigma UWA is missing in Adobe LR

Re: The DSLR Thread

I ditched UFRAW for Rawtherapee.
Works much better than the clunky GIMP/UFRAW interface

Congrats and welcome to the club. Look forward to some sample pics of the 35mm. How much did you pay?

Yes, it comes with auto-focus motor and is extremely fast in focusing with no sound in dark conditions.

I paid Rs.12,200 for it.

Use GC No. 'GCP5EQPAP593' and get Rs. 700/- off during check out

only problem is,they do not ship it to all the places in India and so had no option but to go with flipkart.
