I was originally told by the dealers (Baba Studio TVM) that it would take at least 2 weeks to a month, most likely more, to get the original Canon grip. It seems hardly anyone, even the pro's here, knows about or uses battery grips at all. Also they said price was uncertain. I was expecting around 16K.

So I searched around eBay for a Meike grip, having used one (and continuing to use) on my 60D. I know them to be far cheaper but just as good as the Canon grip

Didn't find Meike, but got a Neewer (same unit rebranded) for about 4.7K from i2cworld_inc. Received mail they will ship it in a few days.

The same day I got that mail was the day my dealer contact informed me that both the 70D and the original Canon grip had become available. Grip cost 10K, so I went ahead and bought it.

Finally upgraded to EOS 60D today. 42300. I feel that the camera is now priced correctly and I went for it because of its sheer VFM factor. I was planning to upgrade only next year, but with 60D running out of stock, I had to grab from the last few boxes.

thats a good deal. what lens kit u got? 42300 is a very good price.

Finally took the plunge this Diwali. After lusting for more than six months, purchased EOS 600D with twin lenses a day before Dhanteras.

Although the local shop was quoting a very tempting price of 36.5K for the same, but somehow for the peace of mind, made the purchase from Canon Image Square only.

Met my uncle who was passionate about photography in the 1970s, here are some photos I took from his antique collection.
(with my Nikon D3100, 35mm-f1.8 prime lens).

At laaaaaast, after years of drooling, dilemma and waiting finally bought a DSLR. Got a great deal for EOS600D with 18-55 & 55-200mm dual lens kit. Looking forward to cultivating a passion for a riot of colours.

Can someone pls guide me to an online tutorial for beginners of this particular camera type as I want to learn all it's nuances.

@aditya79india, that is a good deal. After you learn the basics, you should be able to do lots more. There are lots to learn with regards to this, of the many sites, this should also help.

@harshal, that price is for body alone. I am continuing to use my older lenses.

Right now Canon India is running a combo offer on the body with 18-55 kit lens and 55-250 lens. The same offer was available last year in Canon US.

One pf the first photos from my DSLR. Early morning sun on a hazy skyline.
Still on auto mode though...

Congrats! Did you also consider 700D? They are almost priced similar.

I don't think its a good idea to point your camera at the sun directly. It will affect your sensors and of course your eyes too. Just my 2 cents. Congrats on the purchase though

Direct sunlight is not going to damage the sensor, unless you set a manual exposure time and keep the shutter open for more than a few minutes.

Damage to eyes can be avoided by using Live View and not looking directly through the optical viewfinder.

Hi,
Congrats on your purchase :)
Apart from sites about photography basics etc, I would recommend you go through your camera manual end to end with your camera in hand & ready. Try the effect of each of the settings you read about then & there. It is one of the best ways to get familiar & used to your camera body. Additionally, you would understand quite a bit by yourself when you actually read & see the effect of each control & setting provided by the camera.

Congratulations. Canon must have given free coupons and they have a half day free workshop for those who purchase their cameras. You can register on canonedge.Com depending on where you look live
