From what I understand of these online stores is that, as the views of a product increases - the rate also gradually increases and vice versa. They also track the isp from which the view request comes and tweak the price. This was told to me by my sister in the states who is into the software industry.

Just stumbled upon this little firmware/update/mod for Nikon-ers.

It basically helps adjust Aperture/Shutter/ISO on the fly - in the live view mode.

Decided to upgrade my camera from Sony TX1 to Nikon D3300.
Weekend in Denmark with it. What a change. Probably it was my enthusiasm i just couldn't handover it to other members accompanying me.
It came with 18-55mm lens which was great during the whole trip. Only once, i felt that i should have longer zoom lens but after researching a bit, i dropped the idea because of their weight.
18-105mm lens weighs almost twice that of 18-55mm.
I had bit of neck pain because of keeping this camera lugging around my neck from 10 AM to 6 PM.
Now planning to order compact bag, LCD screen guard.

What do you guys feel about the Nikon D3200?

I'm in the market (for immediate purchase) and have been considering some of the Nikon/Canons based on my price range.

I've looked at Nikon D3200/5200 and Canon T3i.

As far as I can tell, the disadvantage of D3200 is that it has a fixed viewfinder. I assume that it will be an issue if I'm shooting videos at a low angle. And both D3200 don't have the inbuilt auto-focus motor. How big a disadvantage is it?

The deals I found are:
D3200 + 18-55mm lens: $499
D3200 + 18-55mm lens + 55-200mm lens + bag: $529
T3i with 18-55mm: $550

Does the pricing change anything?

I am in the market looking to buy either Canon 70d or canon 7d camera. I had been using my BIL's canon 60d as well as my friend's nikon cameras( 5200, D90). Nothing major difference but I felt that images from canon cameras do not need so much post processing and alkso distortion is less. And one more thing for me to go for canon is that I can share lens with my BIL. :)

Can you guys help me out in deciding which of the above mentioned cameras should I go for? please:

Go with T3i if prices are close to D3200. It has articulating LCD that helps with come compositions. It is in the league of D5100.

Price for D3200 seems to be high. Price of D3200 with 18-55 in 26k on Flipkart.

I was buying a camara recently and chose 70D.

70 d advantages:

• Cheaper by 40 k or so.
• Articulating screen.
• Continuous autofous in Video mode
• Much smaller, lighter

7d advantages:

• Performance at higher ISO would be better
• Much bigger view finder
• Water resistant
• Feels more 'pro'

70 d has built in GPS/WiFi, not sure about the 7d. 7D may have dual memory slot, which 70d lacks.

I recently purchased the D7100 with the 18-105 and a 35mm prime. I'd like to try out a few more lenses, especially wide angles. Can someone please share their experiences with the many rental places in Bangalore? Is Toehold the undisputed leader? I'm looking for reasonable rates but good customer service is more important. There are almost too many options to choose from.

I bough my D3300 in April for 32.5K. It came with 18-55 kit lense, a bag and 4GB card. I have just crossed 5000 images.

The camera rocks.

If you can, avoid this lense. It is quite soft after 200mm. Instead get the 300mm F4 prime. That is a stellar lense and has great IQ even wide open.

Get the D3300. It is a much better and faster camera, and the cost differential is not much.

If you are based in India, the current Indian prices are much better than those in US, and you get Indian Warranty. Check the prices on

That lens used to cost around 75k (as compared to 28k for 70-300).

Does anyone in BLR have a D5200 ?

I do but got it very recently and just getting acquainted with it.
