Quick query please.. planning to buy a yongnou 565EX flash for my Nikon (mainly because of its external power connector for professional use instead of battery only unlike 568, even though 568 has many other advantages). Costs around $85-100 where as it is 12K here in India. I have someone returning next week, who can bring it along with her.

1. Should I still consider YN568 or go ahead with the identified YN565EX I for Nikon? Any other model you suggest? (around US$100)
2. Good websites (with best prices / reliable with quick shipment in US) in US to order the same?

Someone I know is asking for feedback on a D7000. He is looking at a used one.

Any feedback on this model ?

Its upgrade to D90. Very good model. I still use D90. D7000 surpasses D90 in Dynamic range. Current range entry level camera might have better sensors, but dedicated but in D7000 makes taking snaps easy. I would recommend buying D7000 to D3200/D5100 any day.

I have a D7000. It is a great camera for all around use. Highly recommended. I mostly use it with an 18-300 lens, and its performance is impeccable.

The Nikon D7000 takes great photos. Almost as good image quality as my D7100's. One weakness is auto focus for fast moving subjects.

Btw, I am impressed with the high ISO capabilities of modern crop sensors. As well as with modern VR/IS technology. I was shooting at 1/60s at 400mm (600mm equivalent), ISO 3200, handheld, during a recent trip. Photos came out alright.

Then what's the story with AF issues on teh D7000 -is there anything with other than fast moving objects ?

I have used my D7000 with many lenses and under a variety of conditions, and not seen any particular AF issues.

Of late, I was having a feeling of being severely limited by the lack of any half decent wide angle and low light capability of my point and shoot contraption (DMC FZ8). After a long futile wait for the Indian launch of FZ1000, which would have met all my requirments, I finally bought the eos 700d (two lens kit). The deal I got from paytm.com was pretty good. Now begins an all new learning phase!

The little research that I had done for the new acquisition had enticed me in favour of the Pentax K50 (two lens WR kit) followed by Sony A6000. But my cousin, a pro using canons, goaded me into buying the 700d with a promise that he would lend me a Tamron 10-24 wide angle zoom for an indefinite period.

I need some help in deciding the DSLR
I spend close to 2 hrs in reading many pages of this thread and got further confused :D

with lens (Need to be decided)

My requirements
1.Want to click snaps from close till a distance of 40 to 50 feet
2.Want to click photographs in night also
3.Want to keep the camera for atleast next 5 years
4. Budget 40 to 45 K

Is 18-55 mm is sufficient or should go for 18 to 140 mm. Price of later is too high.

the 18-140 should cost you about 21k
The d5200 should be about 32-33k

you would need to go beyond the 45k budget. But the 18-140 will help you with a wide range of focal lengths.

I am planning to get a used D800, can anyone tell me if this is a good DSLR? This is from a friend and know it is well cared for.

I already have Nikkor lenses and would like to get a Nikon again.

Any Camera with a Macro lens will snap at close distance at upto 1:1 magnification. The kit 18-55mm VR-II is an excellent lens for your use. It has one of the best close range specifications of any zoom lens. You can go upto 0.3X. Just note that for consumer grade lenses, the more the zoom ratio, the softer the lens gets at both ends. The kit lens is much sharper than the other zooms at both ends.

Most of the cameras will be fine for night shooting, as long as you use a tripod.

Regarding keeping the body for 5 years. All models are upgraded every couple of years, and the D5200 is at least two years old. So in five years it will be 7 years old technology. If you want to keep the body for 5 years, start with the latest model.

Now regarding the body. Nikon has 3 DX series - D3xxx, D5xxx and the D7xxx. There is not much difference between D3xxx and the D5xxx. So first of all decide if you need the following facilities of the D5xxx
. Tilt screen
. Auto Bracketing
. 14 bit RAW
If these are not that important, then the D3300 is a much better choice, as it has faster processor, faster Video and faster burst rate. Further, at less than 30K street price for the camera and kit lens, you save enough money over a D5200 to buy additional lenses.

There aren't many Bodies better than D800.:)

Hope the glasses that you already have are FF compatible.
