Yes, i do wish to have a decent ball head as well otherwise the tripos doesnt make sense. any suggestions guys ?

You have two decisions.
1. Tripod vs monopod
2. The right head (ball/gimbal)
2 will depend on 1
I find it more confusing as i research more of it. can anyone suggest the model number for both tripod / head etc. please: For eg: i was reading that arca swiss release are better than Quick release and they are better for long lens and also that there have been instances wherein in case of Quick release, the lens has come crashing down since it was not locked properly.
Also, i don't know would there be any reason to go for the more expensive gimbal head as opposed to ball head. i though understand that gimbal heads are easier to move in case of wildlife photography and to capture actions. can you guys give your feedback and also if possible the model which i should go for in this case. Would not mind to invest a bit more upfront rather than upgrading later. Thanks

It seems the video recording is limited to a certain time in DSLR !
Could anyone help me understand the above
Is it a fact?
If then,
Is there any logical reasoning behind it?
Is it specific to camera models?
Is the roll time restriction standard across models?
Is it specific to geographies?
Is it specific to their memory modules?
Is there anyway to circumvent it?

Yes, the video recording time is limited to a certain limit in most SLRs. Like D3100 has maximum recording time limit upto 10 minutes at a stretch. After that you have to start the recording again.
The most common argument which come across this problem is attributed to the fact that the sensors in SLR heats up and to avoid damage, a limit is being set.

The video recording time in most DSLR is 10 minutes. I have shot a few videos and talked to professionals who use DSLR to shoot videos. The 10 min limit is rarely a problem, as the "scenes" are rarely that long. You just stop recording at an appropriate juncture and start recording.
If you notice, most of the scenes in Discovery and NG are less than 5 min duration.
One thing to note is that unlike camcorders, the DSLR video in modern DSLR can be shot at a high rate - 1080P 50/60 fps with Audio at 480 kb+. Most of the TV sets cannot keep up with this data stream, so you have to use software to down sample both audio and video. The reason for high rate is that you can use it to "slow" the motion if you want (from 60 fps to 24 fps ~ 2.5 times slower).

This is why Samsung is such a threat to the other players. The ability to quickly iterate and enhance capabilities. They are used to the smartphone world speed (innovate rapidly or get taken to the cleaners), in comparison the camera world moves glacially.

Is there any store in Mumbai that sells good used DSLR cameras?
Looking out for a Canon 600D, if not something in the same price range.

Keep away from ultra cheap UV filters. Their glass id usually of ordinary quality and may impact the images. I usually use the Hoya filters which are excellent.
