ok guys, my PC is due for an upgrade. Suggest me a good MoBo and a processor to go with it. My budget is around 16-17k for ( MoBo + Processor ).

This machine is primarily used for :
1. Gaming ( have a PCIe XFX 6600 .. so graphics part is solved -- mobo with no 'on board video' will do )
2. Some image editing
3. Movies and Music -- 7.1 channel audio in built most prefered

Guys, what's the largest hard disk that one can commercially buy, and that is compatible effostlessly with a P4 machine? My machine can accept SATA or something I am told.

500GB are available but cost around 350$. The best bet would be a 7200rpm 250GB HDD

:Shockked: ..really!!! You had installed 'em on rooftop?

@Mugen..........if u want it for gaming,go for amd dual core,1gb ram atleast for now [later add one more stick of 1gb],atleast nvidia7600gs video card[7600gt being better] from xfx/leadtek,250gb hard disk as this seems to be better buy than 300/320gb,CRT monitor is better for gaming [samsung flat 17" monitor],if u want LCD monitor then look one with short response time e.g.samsung 19"940 Wide screen[LBM has it],asus/lit-on dvd writer.
Intel processor r bit more expensive but these will outperform amd dual core.Dont buy intel core cue with >2.0Ghz.I would still advise amd 3800+dual core for abt 8500 with asus mobo.
Remebe one thing, for gaming, its better to save some bucks on cpu and invest it on better gpu.

BTW i will be replacing my old ATI radeon 9600pro card with ati1650pro and also adding 512mb ram+lite-on dvd writer with lightscribe and ofcourse more powerful PCU.:)

GPU is something like this.....SAPPHIRE Radeon X1650PRO 100174 Video Card - OEM at Newegg.com
