I have been using ACT for about 1.5 years now, although its been mostly a hassle free experience, I have come across frequent disconnections recently and the higher speed frequency seems less available most of the time. Jio fibre has recently launched in my apartment and there is almost no difference in pricing between ACT and Jio fibre for a 150-200 mbps kind of speed. Since my ACT 6 month plan is coming to an end in March, im planning to try Jio fibre for the next 6 months to see how it performs. I just feel that Jio fibre as a service will encompass more features in the long run.

Jio proactively blocks sites it deems unsuitable for your consumption. I've heard of Jio blocking torrents and disrupting VPNs.

Re: ACT Fibernet - Reviews & Recommendations

I have been a satisfied user of ACT for last 5-6 years. No issues with connectivity or speed generally speaking.

But now in their infinite wisdom now, they have introduced a chatbot based ticketing system. What used to be a simple two clicks in their app for raising an ticket, now is a chatbot which often doesn't even load .

Why ACT, why?

I am sure some service manager at ACT would now have become a VP because he/she introduced an "AI/ML chatbot".

Re: ACT Fibernet - Reviews & Recommendations

Act has been my favorite ISP for several years now, but they kept their prices higher in spite of good quality competition from Airtel and Jio.
Adding to that the frequency of disconnects have increased.

So, wanted to give a try to Airtel fiber and into second month now. Great and consistent speeds. No more issues when multiple devices are connected and streaming at the same time. The bundled Nokia dual band router is great too.

Highly recommend Airtel fiber (and not dsl), if you have access to it.

Re: ACT Fibernet - Reviews & Recommendations

I had posted my previous update here in the previous page on 12-Jan-2021. Now yet again ACT Seems to have increased the speeds in Bangalore and also embraced the "Unlimited Data" game finally. I just wish they throw in a few free OTT apps as well...

ACT Fibernet - Reviews & Recommendations-act_fibernet.png

I was on ACT Storm @200 mbps and 2.5 TB of data, that has been bumped up to 300 mbps with 3300 GB (Unlimited Data)
I remember I first experienced 300 mbps when ACT had given the free WFH Speed upgrade offer last year in March and April 2020. Now I am on the same plan a year from then without really paying as much!

ACT Fibernet - Reviews & Recommendations

Have had really bad experience with ACT. I had been using ACT for more than 1.5 years now, always used the pre-paid plans. My recent plan was expiring in the first week of March and at the same JIO fibre was launched in my society. And ACT people were reluctant to shift my connection within the apartment, even at an extra cost and kept stating some weird reasons. So I thought let me try jio fibre and these guys installed it as per my requirement. So I stopped using ACT from the day my plan expired, disconnected my modem and informed the customer care.

Now, here is where the harrasment starts. For the past 3 weeks I have been getting 10-12 text messages, 3-4 automated calls, 3-4 customer care executives calls, every day! I have explained to them that I had a pre-paid plan, disconnected as per my choice and my records even show no data usage after my plan expiry date. In spite of me patiently informing this to whoever called me and even sending out an email, the calls havent stopped. And on top of that, they are now demanding Rs.650 pro-rata charges for the month.

The ACT app does not have any link to disconnect and there is no direct way to raise a suspension request either.

What levels of professionalism from ACT! I just wanted to try jio for sometime and probably move back to act later if jio did not perform well. But this incident would ensure that I never go back to ACT again.

I got a 300 Mbps upgrade. It might be related to the existing plan, which in my case is 150 Mbps. Nonetheless, nice gesture from them

Re: ACT Fibernet - Reviews & Recommendations

I have been using the Basic 40mbps 500G Plan, received mail today stating plan has been upgraded at extra cost of 10/- to 50mbps 750G data! I don't mind that at all

Re: ACT Fibernet - Reviews & Recommendations

After more than a decade of using ACT, finally unsubscribed their services.

Disconnected because they could not address two issue over the past several years.
a) Teams/Zoom calls used to encounter constant jitter. This, when the link speeds (both upload&download) would be as per the advertised levels.
b) powercuts would mean a loss of internet since the power backup in their distribution box was non functional.

These issues were never encountered with Airtel that I took as a fallback connection during the COVID time.
And in the process figured out that the backup 40Mbps airtel line was more than adequate for our usage (max simultaneous workload being 1 smart TV, 2 computers with jagged usage depending on if I'm re-basing/pulling new images, 3-4 mobiles).
