Mine is a Lexar 256MB (bought over 2.5 years ago). Recently (< than 2 months ago) my relative took a 2 GB Transcend. While I tried to copy large data into these drivers, Transcend was pathetic. To copy 100MB worth video files, Lexar took less than 5 seconds while Transcend took almost 2 minutes

because the transend is USB 1.1 and lexar would be USB 2.0....but now days all of them are USB2.0 but check before buying....

Kingston have some good stuff.....worth buying.....and as EL said 4 to 5 years warranty is a good thing

I recommend Transcend. I believe they are now USB2.0 with 3 or 4 years warrenty. A 2GB stick will cost you Rs 1050 (Hyd price)

Buy a sandisk cruzer titanium U3,similar to sandisk cruzer(black) but metal bodied(can tolerate a car being driven over it) and is superfast.A little expensive though.

SanDisk | Products | USB Flash Drives | New Cruzer Titanium

OCZ Rally is good, just because it has the word Rally associated with it and is made by OCZ (they make some of the best performance RAM in the market).

Basically a pen-drive is only as good/useful as its write speed is. Most drives have a good read speed but when it comes to writing data they flounder big time. So check before you buy. Remember one more thing. To say that Kingston is good or XYZ is bad makes not much sense. That is because all these manufacturers probably have multiple models and each has a different speed. Kingston surely has different models with different speed ratings. You can visit their site and check out the speed ratings. Prices vary as per the speed ratings.

Waise, if you ask me, I purchased a 1gb pqi drive for some 550 odd rupees and it is really good. The speed is quite good when compared to my friend's Memorex and another's Transcend V20 (or was it V2?!).

P.S. : And by the way write speed is not just a factor of USB 1.1 or 2.0. Two drives can both be on USB-2.0 and yet one can be pathetically slow while the other may prove blazing fast. So beware. Most drives (99%) anyhow are on USB-2.0 and yet have differing speeds.

The Sandisk cruzer has 15MB/sec read and 9 MB/sec write, whereas the Transcend v30 for 500 Rs has read speed of 9 MB/sec and write of 2 MB/sec (sequential).
