I am considering a 3-door convertible refrigerator, but I haven't found many options in the market. Haier features and pricing seems compelling to me.Did your friend purchase a Haier? If so, could you share their experience? I'm relatively new to this brand.

Yes. He did. He got a very good deal in Adishwar's. About 10K less than Girias I think. Its working very well without any issues I hear.

Haier is a decent brand. You can definitely consider it. Have heard good reviews from the owners and we have 1 refrigerator in our native village where the installation was very prompt and professional. Working flawlessly for last 5 years!

I have a Haier 2 door refrigerator for the past 3 years and it is working fine. I did not have to approach the service till date as there was no need to do so.
You can check at Devi International at Madhavan park. They offer the lowest price which others are not able to match as per my personal experience.

We have a three door 300 Liter Bosch Refrigerator purchased for around 44K during the 2022 Independence day sale thru Amazon. it is not as convertible as the top end Samsung / LG one where you can convert the fridge sections to any configuration. The middle and bottom section temperature can be set independently thru the LCD display on the door panel, while the top most section is the freezer - which has summer and winter setting only. Hassle free experience since then.

I’m hoping to get some advice regarding my LG side-by-side refrigerator, which I bought five years ago. It has stopped cooling several times now.

The first time the issue arose was in July 2024, after which I raised a complaint with LG. They sent a technician who replaced the compressor. However, just 30 days later, the problem returned.

Since then, I’ve had to call them out six times over the past six months. Each time, the technician checks the compressor, finds it low on refrigerant, refills it, and charges me for the service—all while assuring me that it will be fixed this time. Unfortunately, it hasn’t worked, and the issue keeps coming back.

I’ve escalated this situation to the Managing Director’s office at LG India, asking for a refund or replacement of the refrigerator.

I’m really exhausted from this back-and-forth, and I’d like to know how others in the community have dealt with similar situations. If LG continues to be unhelpful and doesn't resolve the issue, would it make sense to file a complaint with the consumer court?

LG customer service is supposed to be good and unfortunate that they are not helping you. Frequent loss of refrigerant points to issue with pipes. It happened with my LG AC and it was resolved by re-welding the copper piping as there was some leakage. If fridge is still under warranty then press them to check for leakage and fix it. Don't go for repeat refills as you will end up paying money but won't get permanent solution.

I have been a loyal LG customer for decades, with all my home appliances—from the refrigerator to the TV, ACs, and monitor—being LG products. However, this recent incident has left me deeply disappointed.

While the initial response to my complaint was prompt and appreciated, the technicians have been unable to identify and fix the root cause of the leak in my refrigerator. It has now been 10 days since the refrigerator completely stopped working, causing significant inconvenience and frustration.

This lack of resolution and inability to address the issue effectively is highly disappointing, and I must say it is tarnishing my trust in the brand. If this continues, LG will surely lose a long-standing customer.

Our 22 year old IFB Senorita front loading washing machine is due for replacement. Water is flowing from the soap tray at the top instead of going through the outlet. The IFB technician says the drain motor needs replacement and it is unavailable as it is an old model.

I intend to get a washer dryer in the smallest size available (less usage) and zeroed in on this model from LG - https://www.lg.com/in/laundry/washer-dryers/fhd2112stb/. Though old model is available with good discounts on Amazon the latest model seems to give wrinkle free drying with Steam+ technology.

Initially, I was looking at bosch, but the after sales support seems to be better in LG/ Samsung in long term. A relative is looking at LG after the Bosch washing machine motherboard is unavailable for replacement.

Please share your feedback/ recommendation for washer dryer and the LG model selected, if any. Thanks

My few cents. Just because you didn't find a drain pump, you dont have to change the washing machine. Please check this link.

You may find the compatible part online. My dad has a Bosch washing machine for 17 years and still using it. Sourcing spares for a Bosch machine is little hard, but they never failed. LG is easy to maintain and spares are cheaper too. And these days, universal washing machine boards are also available, if the original spare is not available any more. Think over and decide. Thanks

We bought an LG 11/7 front load washing machine. The reason for buying a larger size is that I can easily wash Duvets and curtains, which were either not possible (duvet) or required multiple washes (curtains).

Though it is a large capacity machine, it senses the load and uses water accordingly.

Regarding the dryer there are the following options
. Steam only
. 1/2 hour
. 1 hour
. 2 hours
. Wrinkle free which leaves the clothes a bit moist - ready to iron
. Full Dry. Uses maximum time and energy but clothes are bone dry. Some clothes may crinkle, so use this mode with care.

I was on lookout for larger capacity fridge, and few observations and hopefully comments/advises from the esteemed forum members:

1) There is a growing trend of side-by-side door fridges: while the side-by-side door offers a convenience (less wide arc to swing the door, hence can fit better), I was appalled to see that there is compartment partitioning running through the center, effectively offering you less than 2 square feet uninterrupted storage area! (this is less than my current 300L fridge!)

2) The slightly misleading storage volume spec: though offering you some idea about the capacity, tells nothing about how it is distributed. I have seen fridges which are really "tall" but narrow footprint, thus wasting the volumetric real estate except for that rare tall vessel; very few fridges that are squat shaped and thus offering more "carpet area" (and hence more storage of usual shaped items)

3) some of them come with bottom freezer, and accordingly ask higher price for this feature; but due to the low placement of the freezer, there is a considerably less freezer storage space available (usually no door trays available on such freezers)

4) Samsung, Bosch, Liebherr, Panasonic, Electrolux, LG are more expensive with same features and specs compared to Whirlpool, Godrej, Haier, Voltas, Midea. Any real reason why except for "brand name"?

If water is flowing out of the soap tray, it is not even reaching the drum, let alone needing to be pumped out of it. Sounds more like a blocked outlet from the soap drawer or connecting hose. Might be worth your while to do some poking (literally) around.

For 1 and 2, we skipped the side-by-side options altogether. This was also based on the previous experience that my wife had with her relatives - they ended up buying another small 200L capacity refrigerator after facing storage issues in the side-by-side one rl:

Not sure by what you mean by 'Large Capacity' but if are looking at something close to 450-600L volume, then there are many regular two door options from LG, Samsung, Whirlpool that are not side-by-side and are offer better flexibility in storage space. The freezer can be converted into regular fridge, if needed and hence enhance the capacity at times.

4) You already know the answer. But there can be deals at times wherein the expensive ones can be had at discount.

Water overflows after the drum is full. Once water starts flowing through the soap tray (and other small gaps at the top) we have to power off the washing machine and drain water from the drum that is full by opening the drain valve at the bottom of washing machine. The connecting hose from the soap drawer is fine.

A senior technician from IFB came just now and checked. He says the issue is with the pressure sensor. Seems so as the issue was randomly occurring earlier. We used to swtich off the washing machine and start it later from the initial cycle and it would work.

He will check for the spare part availability and get back.

I will give the machine more chance if the pressure sensor is available. If it does not resolve the issue, I will replace the machine. I have the habit of throwing good money after bad by trying to repair home appliances which are past their life time. Older the item, more difficult it is for me to part away. :)
