Guys help with my new computer config (Budget 15K)
One config which I think should do fine

Intel E 7200 FSB 1066 MHz

Motherboard- not decided preferably something that supports PCIe 2.0
2 GB Corsair Value Select @ 667 MHz( the procy has a FSB of 1066 so 2 GB dual channel will do fine na ? )

160 GB HDD Seagate 7200.11( ?)

Power supply Zebronics/Cooler Master ( preferably and budget permitting)

Cabinet- not decided

Use would be Internet+ Gaming( mostly Car Racing games with some games of other genres occasionally )+ Photoshop + some Video editing

In other words Multimedia + Gaming + Internet

Oh and I am exploring the second option of going in for a lower end procy like a E 2180 along with a DX 10.1 GPU like the ATI HD 3450(PCIe 2.0 )

1.Would this be better ?

2. Secondly are DX 10.1 cards any good if I use only XP ?

A Display card helps if you plan to use it for heavy games, If you need to play lots of games then a Display card is a must.

If you dont want to play the latest games ( just the older games like NFS Underground 2, carbon, Half life 2 , doom 3 etc) then there are onboards which will do fine

instead of that, it would be better to buy an AMD CPU with perfomance equivalent to the E2180 , and a 780G motherboard. THe perfomance will be about the same , but significantly cheaper ( the cpu + mobo will cost <8k, as opposed to the intel combo which I'm sure be about 10k)

DX 10 by itself is useless in XP, but the DX 10 cards will work in DX 9 mode in XP

Thanks Greenhorn knew that uses XP DX 9 extended mode for DX 10 but what I wanted to ask is that would DX 10.1 perform better on XP or would I have to use Vista to notice the performance improvement ?

any more hints on which AMD procy + motherboard combo should I buy ?

Over time I have realized the benefits of a dedicated graphics card the question was whether I should go for Nvidia 7100 GS( I already have this)+E 7200 or ATI HD 3450 + E7200 ?

XP does not support DX 10 at all.

I think an
Athlon X2 5200+ ( 4k)
Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H (4~5k)

should be all you need. The 780G onboard ( which is the onboard version of the 3450 is better than the 7100 GS ( which is a rebadged 6200 )

the 6200's onboard version, the 6100 ( with about 30% less performance) is available on budget AMD motherboards , costing 2k onwards

Plus that is a full featured motherboard. it has features not present in 10k intel boards. alternately, cheaper 780G boards are available for about 4k, and you can get its predecessor , the Ati 690G based board for 3k, and 2k gets you geforce 6100 based boards

Guys I dont know much about computers but I got me a 1920x1080 AVCHD video camera (SD RAM) and Pinacle Studio Plus 12. I was told that I need a Quad Core PC for this purpose.

This is the software
Pinnacle Studio Plus video editing software – The #1 selling digital video editing software

This is the hardware.
Intel Quad Core 2.83 Ghz (C9550)
Intel DG 33 Motherboard
8 GB DDR II Ram (2 GB x 4)
500 GB SATA HDD
NVIDIA 8800 Graphics Card
DVD Writer
Sound Card
Microsoft Keyboard + Mouse
Cabinet with SMPS
Windows Vista Ultimate

Will the hardware/OS be adequate for the software?

I am considering going in for a 8600 GT too finally so will the 690
G do the job ?

another option how about going about going for an ATI GPU and using it alongwith the onbord 3450 ? together ?

What is there to wait for the 8600 GT? It's already an old product , and its prices are falling after news broke of Nvidia using substandard stuff to make them , and that they're gonna die very fast. A new mercury 8600GT costs 3k. I wouldn't buy one of them though.
the 690G will be enough right now - it will give your about the same performance as a 7100. I can run NFS UG2 with high detail @ 1024x768, MW @ medium 800x600 , and Carbon at very low,640x480 on it

yup, but that is possible only for the 780G, but still a single 8600 would be faster.

how much do you plan to spend on a gfx card , and could you specify the games you plan to play?

finally got everything home

AMD Athlon X2 5000
Gigabyte 780 G chipset mobo
OCZ 800 MHZ 1 GB* 2 DDR 2 RAM
Cooler Master E- LITE Cabinet with Cooler Master 390 W Power Supply
Cooler Master - Ultimate provider of Computer Chassis | Cooler | Power Supply
WD Caviar Blue 160 GB SATA Hard Drives ( WD1600AABS )
(I am a little unhappy about this as it only has 2MB Cache)
But overall a VFM setup @ 15.5 K
Thanks to LBM for helping me and answering all my queries on the phone(as well as talking to the vendor himself to clear things out) and Greenhorn for providing online support.

thats a minimum system requirement

Navinji, the system does pass the minimum requirements given at their site. Just make sure that the vista is SP1.

But those requirements are (again).

this thread was interesting

Need help in deciding a Mobo+Proc for system upgrade.

Is there ANY mbobo for recent (Intel or AMD) that has TV Out port?

Looking to upgrade my PC. Planning to add a Mobo that enables PC to function as decent movie player.

Through TV Out (S-Video / Composite AV) I will connect TV to PC as secondary monitor.

Sound from PC (Through S/PDIF - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ) will go to Audio system. That is to avoid distortion.

Thing is I have most of videos in PC and burning a DVD every time is pain.

I could add a Grafix card with TV Out, but would like to avoid it since I do not play games or use any Grafix intensive program.
