DD - I think that's way too expensive. Lacie 120/160GB should be in that price range if not lower.

i built myself a external segate drive 500GB for 4000 RS last week. The drive cost me 3700 + 300 for the external casing. Its bigger than the passwort WD drives and also has an adapter. Since i dont carry it around much so it works for me.

Transcend has now come up with 320GB external drives (USB, no external power required) for around Rs. 6500.

Ask him to feel happy if it's 2.5 GB & works fine for more than a week!

Correct. You can find such flattering imitations, that any one can be fooled. The drive can "show" it's full capacity, copy (only the listing), do everything, but when you connect it again - you will find only the listing but no content.

120GB in such a small package, at that price ?

Yes. Didn't get a comprehensive reply earlier. Had checked Gopz before.
Will just rephrase the q a bit. I want to know -
1. - Pocket size external hard drive in preferrably - 320gb to 500 gb range
2.- best place to buy from around NCR.
3.- Does any comes without the need for adapter power supply (its a pain to carry an adapter along).
4.- Approx price for them.
Help is appreciated.

Harry i think if you go above 320gig then you will N33D a power adaptor. i have bought a transcend 250 gig external for 4200. 320gig was around 6K i think. On the other hand a 500Gig external with a power adaptor will be around 4.5K.

Try SMC international (Nehru place), Contact person : Gurmeet

You don't get pocket drives with 500GB capacity mate, you'll have to go for 320GB which is one of the largest in portable drives.

If you want 500GB you'll have to go in for the powered external drives, I got one for 750GB from western digital, it's called Western Digital MyBook.

Pretty handy and comes in a neat case with a power supply. This is kept on your desk for handy data transfer and backups.

My Book Overview

I keep a separate 120Gb seagate freeagent drive for portable use.
