Has anyone noticed that after ios16 update with the optimised battery charging enabled, the battery charges to max 98%? Or is it just me. For sure it used to charge to 100% prior to the update. (My battery is at 100% health but is a replacement battery not sure if that is impacting the software)

Optimised battery charging was working for me in iOS 15 as well. I've noticed that now it shows charging on hold in notification and even in battery settings.
Also, the replacement battery wouldn't cause any issues if it's being replaced by Apple. You can upgrade to iOS 16.1 which would be released on Monday, 24th October to see if that helps.
iOS 16.1 Release Candidate (RC) is out with lots of potential issues, hope Apple releases a RC 2 after fixing these issues before releasing it for the general public. It’s supposed to be released on 24th October but I will wait till things stabilise before upgrading from 16.0.3

Anyone using IPhone 14 Plus here? Can some one please share how much Screen On Time they are getting with a full charge. In Android we could see what's the current Screen On Time after the phone was charged to 100% but I cant seem to find similar option in iOS. iOS just shows the SOT day wise which again doesn't give a clear picture what is the exact SOT. Also how many recharge cycles does it take for the SOT to stabilize or start giving a decent backup. I heard when the phone is new it needs some initial recharge cycles for it to start giving consistent backup. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I only charged my phone to 100% once till date and got a total of around 9 hours of SOT with 20% battery remaining. My usage was mainly browsing and downloading apps etc.
A weird issue with my wife's iPhone 13. The audio begins to drop when we're 10-15 mins into video call. The our voice becomes choppy and the receiver hears only every 2nd or 3rd word spoken by us. This is definitely not a network issue, as we've tried with multiple networks and issue persists. We don't think there's any issue with mics on the phone, because both us and Apple svc ran diagnostics and didn't find anything wrong. Apple SVC did a software reload twice, but issue isn't resolved. We used voice memo and front cam to record video and audio for more than 30 mins and there was no issue. No issue with case or screen cover too. When we connect a BT earbud for audio, the issue disappears. Anyone here are aware or have faced a similar issue? Your comments would be really helpful as the iPhone is barely a month old and we aren't able to enjoy it to the fullest. As of now, we have managed to take a video of video call when the issue occurs as proof.
Below are some threads in which people have faced this exact issue with various iPhones.

So iOS 16.1 has been released which does fix battery draining issues as per multiple reports from YouTubers.
It enables iCloud Shared Photo Library, Live Activities, Fitness+ (even without Apple Watch) etc.:

I don’t have a 14 plus but on my 13 pro max which has the exact same battery and screen size, I get around 9 hours of screen on time at max brightness.
There are no minimum initial cycles needed for lithium batteries, you get 100% of the capacity from day 1.
I agree iOS should show screen on time from 100-0% in addition to the 24 hrs based usage it shows currently.

I upgraded recently from my 4.5 years old iphone x 64GB to iphone 14 Pro Max 256GB. The phone seems very nice specially the display and camera. One issue i feel is with the front selfie camera, before clicking the pic the preview seems fine on the phone. Once you click the snap and open the photo, it look like some sort of processing is applied on the photo and it comes out very oversharp and over exposed. Anyone else feels the same ? or my phone has some issue. I got it locally with from imagine store. |
Looks like this is an issue with photos, there are lots of suggestions but nothing works.
I checked few more phones in the store and it seems its there in all phones. Very strange that no reviewer or media is talking about it. As it seems to be a major issue.

I have kind of find a solution for this issue, just go to the edit menu and select any other photo from the live photos. All other photos are good, only the one automatically selected from live photos has this issue. Also if you send this photo to someone on whats app or transfer to mac/PC, it looks fine. So i am guessing this is something to do with photos app rather than camera. I have switched off "view in HDR" option also in the settings for photos app but still it looks over exposed and over sharp.
Apple confirms iPhone with USB-C is coming Quote:
Apple gave a direct confirmation that the iPhone is switching to USB-C. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Apple marketing lead Greg Joswiak said the company will replace the Lighting port even if his team is not happy with the change.
The interview involved software VP Craig Federighi as well but none of them revealed when exactly the move will happen.

The marketing lead added that charging bricks with detachable cables solved the issue of standardization, claiming the switch to USB-C would create a lot of e-waste as people are pushed to buy new cables and discard the old ones.

Optimised charging should hold charge unto 80% and go to full charging only an hour before it learns when you start using the phone. This is strange. Maybe you can disable the feature once for a couple of days and enable it again to see if anything changes.
Also - Are you putting phone on charging for 12 hours straight? Just notice it from the graphic. That surely isn't a good practice.

I use a 5w charger.
Seems when i leave it for charging longer it only does it to 98%. Some cycles take it to 100%. (Only God and Apple AI knows the logic lol:)
Peak performance is 100 % with 1+ year of usage. ( touchwood) so all good. Normally i leave it overnight and unplug in the morning.

Okay, so maybe just a wild guess - Th "AI" charges it to full capacity much before you plug it out, but then the phone keeps draining the battery on account of "background activities". It doesn't start re-charging the battery to avoid multiple cycles. Hence you see it fully charged if you pull it out before your usual long charging periods.
Just a wild
wild guess. After all it is AI and not HI :D
