It’s always the case and possibly that’s kinda justified too (I’m 12 Pro user). 12 series phones are a good 3+ years old now & for all practical purposes Apple would definitely want to keep the customers of their latest iPhones happy.

Frankly speaking I didn’t quite feel any appreciable difference between iOS 16 & 17. Moreover, my 12 Pro kinda took a hit on battery and also on the overall performance front after the 17 update. More importantly I find that the camera quality has dropped too; some software tweaking Apple does maybe to force customers to pick the newer iPhones. Hence , I think I wouldn’t update anymore unless it is really significant.

Three years ago, Apple introduced a privacy-enhancing feature that hid the Wi-Fi address of iPhones and iPads when they joined a network. On Wednesday, the world learned that the feature has never worked as advertised.

Anyone else facing this issue of iPhone not charging fully even though connected overnight? Facing this strange issue for past 2 days. Connected to charger at 11PM and the phone is charged only 85% by the morning 7AM. Funny thing is that it charges at normal speed when plugged in to the car charger. Thereafter, I tried with a different cable at home for overnight charge, but again it was charged only till 85%.

Downloaded iOS 17.1 today, maybe it will change this pattern, maybe it will not.

Any tips or troubleshooting from anyone who has gone through this?

Check the battery settings. You probably have the Optimised Battery Health function on. If you want to try charging it to 100% you should try disabling it and see if it works. Also, under Battery it will show you a graph of the charge levels and will also show when it was on charge.

AFAIK the latest iPhone 15 models have this new feature of limiting the Charging. But from what I read, it limits the charge to 80%.

If you are using an iPhone 15 / Pro / Max, go to settings> battery > battery charging and health > select optimized charging (unselect max 85% charge)

Hope this helps

Mine is iPhone 12. There is just the "Optimised Charging" option - nothing that limits it to 80% or 85%. Attaching SS which shows the charging progress

You can unselect "optimized charging" option and put it on charge and see.

Also what is the Battery Health (%) ? If it is low at 80% health, then may be it is the reason.

Thanks, will try that as well today. Battery health is at 87%

Slightly off track but still relevant - is there a way to change the battery of aid pods ?

You can. Apple does change battery for pretty much all their products :). If you dont have the upgrade bug, changing the battery will always be cheaper

That’s apple for you. Even batteries are so expensive that they tend to make you want to upgrade even if you are not looking to. lol:

My iPhone 12 is a little over 2 years old and battery stands at 85%. Am sure when I replace it at 2.5 year mark next year it will cost north of 10k(currently says 8.8k) :Frustrati

Damn!! 8.8k for the battery of 12? My 12 Pro is at 84% health and I was thinking of getting the battery replaced in sometime when it hits 80%.

What I’ve noticed thought is that these prices are varying at different stores. Even the official Apple stores have difference in their pricing.

Yes I changed the batteries for iPhone X earlier this year (around February,2023). While in Bangalore they were asking for an absurd 8.5k, got it from Kolkata at 5k. But post march/April prices increased and for 12/12pro I don’t expect anything below 8k in 2024. Btw the 8.8k price I mentioned is from Apple support website. Yet to check from actual physical stores as its not a necessity yet.

Disabled "Optimised Charging" before plugging in the phone on Saturday, and voila - it charged fully within 2 hours. Enabled it back on Sunday and it is back on track. So the idea of disabling the "Optimised Charging" worked :)
Thank you guys!
